CARTERSVILLE, Ga. ?? A convicted sex offender wanted for allegedly kidnapping an 11-year-old boy from his school in Florida was arrested Sunday, two days after the boy was found safe.

Frederick Fretz, 42, was arrested after police received a tip that a man resembling him was hitchhiking near Interstate 75 in Cartersville, about 40 miles north of Atlanta.

He was being held at the Bartow County Jail, police said. Authorities in Marion County, Fla., said they had issued two warrants against Fretz, one for violation of parole and another for failure to register as a sex offender, a felony. There was also a federal warrant issued for kidnapping. Authorities said he would be extradited to Florida within the next few days.>/p>

Well, there ya go… “Arrested”.

Arrested is good for stealing. For kidnapping and child molestation you’d think that we could do better. But, I suppose the police have their rules and Mr. Fretz should consider himself lucky that the tipster was either unarmed at the time, or a bleeding-heart. at any rate, we can still hope for the scumbag to be placed in “General Population”. I understand his kind is welcomed there with special ceremony, oft times requiring the use of broomhandles.

I wonder if Mr. Fretz studies Astronomy? Why? I’d like to ask him, in a couple of months, “Mr. Fretz, how’s ‘Uranus’?”

EMERSON, Ga. ?? Dozens of police officers fanned out across northwest Georgia on Saturday to search for a convicted child molester who took an 11-year-old boy from his school in Florida and became separated from him near a gas station here.

Frederick Fretz, 42, was believed to be on foot and hiding in a wooded area near where the boy was found safe Friday evening, said Maj. Mike Powell of the Emerson Police Department. Powell said he had no indication that the boy was molested.

Fretz, who had been living with the boy and his father, picked up the boy at a Dunnellon, Fla., Elementary School on Tuesday, police said. Their drive north ended when their car stalled on an exit ramp off Interstate 75 north of Atlanta.

The discovery of the car Friday morning triggered the search for the two. Emerson police received a call when Fretz and the boy went to a store to buy a gallon of water and some candy, Powell said.

The boy was found less than 12 hours later, about two miles from the car, and ran toward police as Fretz fled into the woods, police said.

The boy’s father said Fretz never told him he had been convicted of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy in Pennsylvania in 1991.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert on Wednesday to notify the public and other law enforcement agencies once they learned about the conviction.

So here we have a beast on the loose that preys on our children. What do you think we should do with such beast? Right. Remove it from the gene-pool. Therefore I challenge the authorites to do the right thing and place a bounty on Fretz’s head.

Wow!
Right when I thought I’d seen the depths of idiocy, (with the Atheist wanting the Supreme Court to ban prayer at the Inauguration), someone – actually a group – comes along with idiocy that pales my previous example.
But don’t take my word on it… Read on.

NEW YORK ?? Conservative groups are putting the squeeze on a film starring SpongeBob SquarePants bound for elementary schools ?? charging it promotes a gay lifestyle.

The four-minute video features the wildly-popular gap-toothed sponge â€??? whose sexuality has been questioned because he often holds hands with his pink friend, starfish Patrick Star â€??? and scores of other cartoon characters singing the disco classic “We Are Family” alongside celebs Diana Ross, Bill Cosby and Whoopi Goldberg.

The creators of the video, the We Are Family Foundation ?? started by music legend Nile Rodgers, who wrote the song ?? say its message is to foster tolerance and plan to send copies this spring to up to 70,000 school districts nationally.

But conservative groups insist the film cunningly seeks to coerce children to embrace homosexuality.

They tie their claim to a “tolerance pledge” on the foundation’s Web site that includes “having respect for people whose … sexual identity or other characteristics are different from my own.

Focus on the Family, a conservative group, issued a statement Thursday saying, “By calling to light this video and its affiliation with this larger organization … we’re connecting the dots.

Michele McManus Higgins, a spokeswoman for the New York City Department of Education, noted the agency has not seen the film, and said, “As in all cases, principals can determine whether the video is relevant and appropriate for their students.

The We Are Family Foundation’s lawyer, Mark Barondess, called the critics “insane” and accused them of “seeing what they want to see.

Frank Russo Jr., state director of the American Family Association of New York, said his chapter would not “make a big deal” about the video but that the brouhaha, first reported in Thursday’s New York Times, is just another reason why parents should have more say in their children’s education.

Alan Van Capelle, executive director of the gay-rights group Empire State Pride Agenda, called the controversy “a joke” on multiple levels.

How crazy have we all become in questioning the sexuality of cartoon characters as if they’re real people. Get a grip!” Van Capelle said.

If SpongeBob is a gay icon, someone needs to tell Barbra Streisand,” he said. “If he’s a gay icon, I should know about it.

Isn’t that special?
Seems almost everyone in the Christian “Send Me Money” crowd is involved except for good ol’ boy Jerry Falwell. My guess is he’ll be on the bandwagon soon, though some believe he has learned his lesson.

One of my favorite bloggers, SJ over at “Give Me The Booger” cleanly beat me to the scoop on this story and had this to say – and more:

[snippage]

Am I wrong, but shouldn’t Christianity teach tolerance? Didn’t Jesus supposedly say ‘love thy neighbor‘ or words to that effect along with a whole bunch of other tolerant type things? I think Pops [a fellow GMTB reader...] recently mused, “Why is it always about gays with these people?” I think the reason it’s about gays is because it can no longer be about blacks. Or Latinos. Or women. Gays are the only target they have left.

And most of them in their deepest darkest place want it up the ass.

My Gods, SJ! You’ve hit the nail on the head with that last line, methinks! I, too, have always wondered about the sudden Christian venom towards gays. (A big change since my youth as I recall…)

Keep the good works coming, SJ!
And while I’m at it let me encourage the Far Right Christian groups to keep up their work as well. Not in order to “Save Souls” but rather to keep the rest of the population amused at your idiocy.

It is done.

The 55th Inauguration of an American President has taken place and is a matter of history. And George Walker Bush begins his second term as the 43rd President of the United States of America.

I listened closely to his speech. No doubt he will catch much hell from the Liberal Left – and especially from Athiest Idiots – for his mentioning of “God” in several places. Those people will not recall that he stated that Americans are of all faiths and all faiths are American. The President, in fact, voiced his support for the continuing Freedom of Religion – all religions – in the United States of America.

As a human, an American, and as a Pagan, I like this man and will continue to support him and his policies.

Have you noticed the little chages going on here on “The Bull Speaks!“? For example, the navigation bar at the top of the postings. This should help with your movements around this site and our family’s site, “On Dog River“.

Oh, there is much to do even now. I have a vision of how I’d like TBS and ODR to look and function. Given time, (much time), and learning, (you have no idea…), I will see this project through to the end. Fact is, I would not have made it this far without huge amounts of help from my fellow bloggers and the fine developers of WordPress.

Along with a couple of free-standing pages I’ve installed a microwiki, but have not done ANY work on it yet. I hope to have it up and running sometime soon. (If you’re experienced on these things, write to me with pointers. Please.

I’d like to ask each of you, the readers of this blog, to continue to point out to me the faults you find here, and please continue your compliments as well. They do so encourage the struggling developer. Any ideas for improvements to this site, or “On Dog River” are now – and always will be – gratefully accepted.

It’s been a long time since I took the time to answer the oft-asked questions over at Witches Weekly. Since I’m trying desperately to keep my mind off of other matters, (i.e.: Social Security Disability hearing), this seems the best possible time to give thought to these other things.

These questions are, to say the least, timely. I’ll be typing out answers while watching the inaugural festivities. Here we go…

1) Do you fear repercussions of the re-election of George W. Bush on your rights to practice your religion freely?

Hell no! I don’t “fear” any “repercussions”! George Dubya Bush is the President of the United States of America. President, not Dictator. That is a distinction that is becoming lost on many Americans nowadays, particularly the Liberal far-Leftist groups. The President alone hasn’t the power to take away anyones Constitutional Right to freedom of religion. That would take a major effort on the all parts of our system.

When you take time to look closely at the American system of Government, there are not just the three branches of Government we were taught in school. There are four. First is the President. Then there is the Judiciary, (i.e. Supreme Court). Next is the Congress – a two house system whos members are elected by the people. And here is the hidden 4th branch… The People themselves.
The President could turn. So can any or all elected members of the House and Senate. The Court is appointed for life, but can be defeated by the other two “official” branches. But the REAL power lies in the hands of the People. And in their vote. And, failing that (Gods forbid), in their sheer numbers.

No. There is no danger to my Right to freely practice my Faith.

What steps do you think are important to take in securing religious freedoms for Pagans, Witches and related?

1) Stay informed.

2) Take no ones word as gospel – check for yourself. (Remember what happened to Dan Rather and CBS. It brought the Blogger to the forefront of society.)

3) Above all, take a stand on what you personally believe and exercise your voting privilege.

Do you feel Pagan and Witch groups should better organize into “churches” to provide a more “legitimate” face to general public? Why or Why Not?

No, not really. We’ve never needed to do so before and at the moment I see nothing coming down the pike that would make such a change beneficial. In fact, I see it as another step away from our original teachings – none of which have been all that good for us as a Community.

Our Traditions are what make us strong and tie us both together as a people and to our ancestors. All I’ve seen of the mixing of Trads and mixing of Faiths (i.e. “Christian Witches”), and the increasing numbers of ill-trained “Bookstore Witches”, has been a negative impression made on the mundane world. IMHO, things were better when we remembered to “Keep Silent“. While it is too late for us to return completely to our secretive ways, I do advocate a return to Traditionally trained Witches and the rejection, publicly, of the “wanna-bes”, the frauds, and the unstable, self-trained. Your milage may vary.

Well, that my reply. Now back to the Inauguration!

After being unemployed since 29 October 2001, after 4 surgeries that removed many portions of bone from my spine from the base of my skull down, inserted titanium into my neck, and amputated my left big toe; and after over three years of self-destructive thoughts, bottomed out self-esteem, and being forced to be separated from my children due to a lack of money, my Social Security Disability Hearing has finally been scheduled.

My lawyer just called, (3:30PM), to inform me that my case will be heard on the morning of Feb. 2nd at 9:00AM.

Though I will be glad to get this over with at long last, chances are I will not know until 8 weeks after the hearing if my disability claim has been paid. If so, it will be quite a bit longer after that before I, (or my kids), see a penny.

I feel that the pressure that has been pressing me for these years will now redouble as I worry about my future after the hearing – if there is to be a future. Lady Beth is the best wife a man could ever ask for, yet I have been unable to help her out in any finacial way with the support of this family unit. Nor have I been able to help support my three children in South Carolina since I became disabled with my health. Such things weigh heavily on my mind. Indeed, if I were to be completely truthful for once with everyone about my nights, it is as much more the sense of guilt that keeps me awake than it is the pain of my crumbling spine. Should I be denied this last chance to be of some use I will be forced to rethink many serious matters. Not the least of which will be my continued failure towards my children, and the emotional & financial drain on the woman I so dearly love.

But at least the long wait is over. One way or the other, the end is in sight.

And in a beautiful display of strength and class, Chief Justice Rehnquist shut down California atheist Michael Newdow’s ignorant request to deny the President prayer at his Inauguration.

Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist denied Michael Newdow’s claim that a prayer at Thursday’s ceremony would violate the Constitution by forcing him to accept unwanted religious beliefs.

In so doing, Rehnquist also rejected Newdow’s request to recuse himself from the case because he is scheduled to swear in Bush. Newdow had argued that Rehnquist had become a willing fixture in a government ceremony “infused with sectarian Christian religion” and thus had a conflict of interest.

Rehnquist’s order came without comment.

I love that last line. “Rehnquist’s order came without comment.” The absolute classiest move the Chief Justice could have made. Period.

The latest from the Californian Granola bunch…

WASHINGTON â€??? The atheist who tried to remove “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance asked the Supreme Court on Tuesday to bar the saying of a prayer at President Bush’s inauguration.

In an emergency filing, Michael Newdow argued that a prayer at Thursday’s ceremony would violate the Constitution by forcing him to accept unwanted religious beliefs. His request has been rejected by two lower courts.

Newdow also asked that Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, who is designated as the justice to hear emergency appeals for the D.C. Circuit, recuse himself because he is scheduled to swear in Bush and thus has a conflict of interest.

Rehnquist previously has sworn in four presidents since becoming chief justice in 1986.

He has become a fixture in a governmental ceremony that has become infused with sectarian Christian religion and not once â€??? as far as can be determined â€??? has he made the slightest attempt to end that … violation,” Newdow wrote.

If Rehnquist does remove himself, the case will go to the next senior justice, John Paul Stevens, who has the option to refer the appeal to the full court for consideration.

Two lower courts have rejected Newdow’s request to ban the prayer, suggesting he couldn’t show actual injury in hearing it. In his ruling last week, U.S. District Judge John Bates also said the court did not have authority to stop the president from inviting clergy to give a religious prayer at the ceremony.

Attorneys representing Bush and his inaugural committee have argued that prayers have been widely accepted at inaugurals for more than 200 years and that Bush’s decision to have a minister recite the invocation was a personal choice the court had no power to prevent.

Newdow gained widespread publicity two years ago after winning his pledge case before the San-Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, which ruled that public schools violated the separation of church and state by having students mention God.

The Supreme Court later threw out the ruling, saying Newdow could not lawfully sue because he did not have custody of his elementary school-age daughter, on whose behalf he sued. Newdow refiled the pledge suit in Sacramento federal court this month, naming eight other parents and children.

I don’t know about the rest of you out there, but I’m just plain sick of this guy… What a nutter. After two centuries of Presidents taking the oath, and having a prayer spoken, here comes Newdow – the self-appointed Guardian of the Constitution – to save us all from the ills of Religion.

Personally, I consider my faith, my religion, to be just that: mine. And so does George “Dubya” Bush! And though the President is Christian, (and I am Pagan), I’ll fight for his right to pray at the ceremony that will once again place him in the most powerful and most responsible office on the planet. I can’t imagine taking on that job without the feeling of some Greater Force to help guide me.

Perhaps Michael Newdow is a better man than me, or “Dubya“. If so, he should take his goat-smelling ass out and win the office of President. Then, if he doesn’t want a prayer spoken at his inauguration – so be it. In the meantime though he should take himself back to his Left Coast home and get a life. If you ask me, this is a guy in desperate need of a girlfriend or something.

As you know, we’re nuts about dogs. Well, ok. We’re nuts about all animals. And while Shih-Tzus are our babies, both Lady Beth and myself have a *need* to have at least one large dog near us. We’re fortunate to have two. Both are mix-breeds. *Freya* is a Shepard-mix of some sort. She is not quite a year old and is beginning to dwarf the Lab-mix, *Buck*. She is remarkedly beautiful and enormously strong of limb and bite. An excellent guard-dog candidate. *Buck* is a shade over 10 years old and is starting to go downhill. Aches and pains, and a bladder weaker than it once was. He’s always been a house dog, but fortunately for him and us the weather down here has made for an easy move to the outdoors. He’s still a very active dog, but it is easy for us to see his decline.

As is our habit we watch all dog shows only to “Oooo…!” and “Ahhhh…!” over all the breeds. (BTW: Congrats to *Knotty* the Bloodhound that took “Best in Show” last night at the National Championships.) And search the papers daily online for dogs needing homes. Weekends find us at the FleaMarket in Mobile, AL looking at all of the puppies for sale. (This weeks #1 choice was a lemon&white, male, Basset Hound pup.) And finally, whenever someone brings to our attention a breed we have not heard of before we hit Google and find all the info we can on the breed, including the nearest breeder.

Recently I posted about a Mastiff breeder thereof in nearby Fairhope, AL. A comment to that post put me on the heels of the Caucasian Ovtcharka. An enormous, thickly furred, extremely loyal & protective breed. As for breeders, there are not many. The foremost breeder of the Caucasian Ovtcharka is the folks at ThunderHawk Farm. This is a real eye-opening breed and one of the most conscientious breeders I’ve heard of if they live up to what they say on the site.

Take a couple of minutes, go to the linked site, and read about an almost unheard breed of dog.

Yep. I’m hopeless. No doubt about it.

My wife, Lady Beth, goes to work each day and I count the minutes until she is home again. The children go to their biological father’s house for a visit, and I feel empty until they return. My own children, (much older and in SC), are far from me, and every minute of the day my heart bleeds for missing them.
I, my Dear Reader, am a hopeless Family Man. I adore *all* of my children and I love my wife beyond the ability of words to explain. No doubt this is a weakness on my part, for it you wish to get next to me just insult my family.

Doesn’t stop there. Oh, no. *I* have a disease much more insidious than the OPLL and Degenerative Disc/Joint Disease that are ravaging my body. The dread disease is… Living-History-itis. The compulsion to learn the details of life in early America and then try it. All of it. From the complex, (like building a working flintlock rifle), to the most mundane, (like building a fire or cooling dinner).
How bad is it? Well, you know of the list of surgeries and other junk going on with my health. And that I’ve lost the ability to sleep more than a couple of hours a night or raise my left arm above my shoulder. Still I sit here at night and recall every minute I ever spent on a trail, every shot fired from the guns I built by hand, the feel of clothing from another era. And I try to figure a way to return – even if in a very limited way – to the rendezvous I love so much.

And now I seem to be caught up in yet one more love of mine. A love of animals. You’ve all seen our furry friends. Just before sitting down to peck out this post, (I never learned to type properly), I took the time to clean out the enclosure holding a rather large rat that will be here only until our Royal Python, “Sneaky”, finishes her skin-shedding. Yep. It’s “food”, not a pet. But until it is dinner time the rat will be properly fed, watered, and kept in a clean environment.

Like I said… I’m hopeless.
