2005 February | The Bull Speaks! - Part 2

What do you know! The asswipe calling himself only “nm” was right! The thrown baby story was a hoax. I’m not one to let a falsehood continue, so here’s the latest on the story and the child.

Source: The Associated Press.

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. ?? The woman who claimed to have seen a baby being tossed from a moving car fabricated the story as a cover to abandon her newborn and hide an unwanted pregnancy from her family, authorities said Friday.

It’s not as horrible as we first thought,” Broward County Sheriff Ken Jenne said. “The baby was never thrown out of a moving car. This is the case of a disturbed woman who gave birth and did not want to keep her child.

Jenne said the woman, identified as Patricia Pokriots, 38, kept her pregnancy a secret from her family and others, She had planned to take the baby to authorities, then built her story around seeing two people in a large white sedan arguing. “One story built upon the other,” Jenne said.

The child was born Thursday afternoon, about an hour before being dropped off by Pokriots at a Broward sheriff’s substation in North Lauderdale, about 15 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale, Jenne said.

She has indicated that she does not want the child,” Jenne said.

Pokriots may face a charge of filing a false report, but has not been otherwise charged, Jenne said. She was committed for psychiatric evaluation under the Baker Act, which allows for people who are a threat to themselves or others to be held for 72 hours.

Pokriots is a barmaid and has an arrest record including an aggravated battery charge. “She said she may be a threat to herself,” Jenne said.

The 8-pound, 2-ounce boy, whose umbilical cord was still attached, survived with minor injuries and was hospitalized in good condition Friday at Broward General Medical Center. Nurses at the hospital have nicknamed the child Johnny.

Jenne said county officials have been flooded with calls offering everything from teddy bears to college funds, and has even received requests to adopt the child.

The one good thing that comes out of this is there is a great love for this child,” Jenne said.

Pokriots originally told investigators she saw a man and woman arguing in a car, then witnessed the woman tossing the child from the passenger side of the vehicle. Eventually, investigators found inconsistencies in her story and she acknowledged Friday that she concocted the story. Jenne said.

State law allows a mother to take a baby to any medical facility or fire station within the first three days the baby is born without any questions asked.

That provides parents or women with an option. You don’t have to just abandon your child in way that would endanger his or her life,” said Veda Coleman-Wright, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

Hey, “nm”! So you know, I’d still gladly shoot anyone who threw a child out of a car window and , no, I don’t feel in the least stupid for saying so! That has nothing to do with Alabama either, (I’ve only been here about 1 1/2 years.), it has everything to do with being a loving parent and a human being who cares about kids. Further, some asswipes need to be removed from the genepool. Frankly, the mother of this child sounds like a good canidate.

One last thing, “nm”… The reason you find yourself banned is that you failed to read the Rules. If you are going to insult me, be original. I was called all of those names before you were even born, you goat-smelling freak.

*Sometimes the actions of other so-called ‘parents’ makes you just want to cry… To just throw away a child. A newborn! It is beyond comprehension. Lady Beth and I would absolutely love to have another child, (though circumstances forbid it), and here is someone tossing one out a window like trash.*
*Perhaps I have lived too long….*

NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. ?? A newborn was tossed out a car window onto the grass beside a busy street Thursday afternoon, and the car sped off, authorities said.

Investigators were seeking the parents of the boy, whose umbilical cord was still attached when he was found by a woman passer-by. Doctors believe the infant was less than an hour old at the time.

Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Leljedal said the woman brought the infant to the sheriff’s office. The baby was taken to Broward General Medical Center, which upgraded his condition from critical to serious Thursday night. It was unclear what injuries the eight-pound, two-ounce child suffered.

The woman who rescued the baby ?? who was inside a small plastic bag ?? said she saw a man and woman arguing inside the vehicle. The baby was thrown from the passenger side, landing three or four feet away in the grass.

No information was released on the baby’s identity.

*Damn it all! I volunteer to shoot these bastards myself.*

What follows is a message from Vicki Pierce about her nephew James’ funeral (he was serving our country in Iraq).

LZIL: file not found:

“The service itself was impressive with wonderful flowers and sprays, a portrait of James, his uniform and boots, his awards and ribbons. There was lots of military brass and an eloquent (though inappropriately longwinded) Baptist preacher. There were easily 1000 people at the service, filling the church sanctuary as well as the fellowship hall and spilling out into the parking lot.

LZIL: file not found:
/home/omar/public_html/wp-content/funeral02.jpg

However, the most incredible thing was what happened following the service on the way to the cemetery. We went to our cars and drove to the cemetery escorted by at least 10 police cars with lights flashing and some other emergency vehicles, with Texas Rangers handling traffic. Everyone on the road who was not in the procession, pulled over, got out of their cars, and stood silently and respectfully, some put their hands over their hearts, some had small flags. Shop keepers came outside with their customers and did the same thing. Construction workers stopped their work, got off their equipment and put their hands over their hearts, too. There was no noise whatsoever except a few birds and the quiet hum of cars going slowly up the road.

When we turned off the highway suddenly there were teenage boys along both sides of the street about every 20 feet or so, all holding large American flags on long flag poles, and again with their hands on their hearts. We thought at first it was the Boy Scouts or 4H club or something, but it continued …. for two and a half miles. Hundreds of young people, standing silently on the side of the road with flags. At one point we passed an elementary school, and all the children were outside, shoulder to shoulder holding flags … kindergartners, handicapped, teachers, staff, everyone. Some held signs of love and support. Then came teenage girls and younger boys, all holding flags. Then adults. Then families. All standing silently on the side of the road. No one spoke, not even the very young children. The last few turns found people crowded together holding flags or with their hands on their hearts. Some were on horseback.

The military presence…at least two generals, a fist full of colonels, and representatives from every branch of the service, plus the color guard which attended James, and some who served with him … was very impressive and respectful, but the love and pride from this community who had lost one of their own was the most amazing thing I’ve ever been privileged to witness.

This reminds me so much of my youth… How many times did I see such funerals on the streets with people paying last respects to a fallen soldier? Back then it was the Vietnam War – a truly unpopular conflict. But in UpState South Carolina among the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains we couldn’t care less about the popularity of the war, all we knew was another of our own was dead, and so we mourned – all of us. Where did that honoring of our war dead go?

As a country, we could take a lesson from this small town in Texas.

I despise talking about, seeing, or even hearing the Freak of Ages, Michael Jackson. I’ve even made it clear here on my blog. But, I get mail daily asking me to post something about this nut-job. I have before, so I will again. Now. (The last time I did the emails at least slowed down for a while….) What I’m about to post here was in an email forwarded to me by my Pop. He got it from some other Goats he served with ‘back in the day’. It’s funny as hell… And every word is as close to Gospel as you can get on this planet!

Michael Jackson

1. What’s the difference between Michael Jackson and a grocery bag?
One is white, made of plastic, and is dangerous for children to play
with The other one holds groceries.

2. Why did Michael Jackson go to K-mart? He heard that boys pants
were half off.

3. Why did Michael Jackson place a call to Boyz to Men? He thought
it was a delivery service.

4. What is Michael Jackson’s alma mater? Bringham Young.

5. How do you know when Michael Jackson has a hot date? There’s a
tricycle in his driveway.

6. Why was Michael Jackson relieved of his Boy Scout duties? He was
up to a pack a day.

7. What is a perfect 10 for Michael Jackson? Two five year olds.

And finally….
The Pope said if there is one more molestation allegation against
Michael Jackson, he would have no choice but to make him a priest.

Oh my! A good laugh just makes my day. ;-)
Another thing comes to mind as well. I suppose Jackson could get pissed about these attacks on his character. I suppose he could even sue.
I, however, own nothing, have nothing, and am expecting nothing in the future. There is nothing to take. Period. (Then, of course there is that FRee Speech thing…) That leaves me remarkedly free to speak the Truth without fear of reprisal from wealthy, child-molesting, perverts like Michael Jackson.

The only thing I could ask for is that his trial be here in Mobile, Alabama. It would cost less, be shorter, and besides…. the crabs out in Mobile Bay have got to eat too!
Do you think that Jackson has any idea of what is life will be like in any prison? A girly-looking gay black guy trying hard to turn himself into a white woman that also happens to be a child-molester…
I wonder what will happen first:
1) Death by beating, or
2) Death by ruptured colon?????

Either is still too good for the bastard.

One of Our Readers, one Chris F., sent Us an email containing both a compliment, (Thank you, Chris!), and the info on Diego Garcia that We had inquired about following the recent deadly tsunami. If you will recall We noted that at the time no word had been heard from that far-flung Naval Base…

Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory – Navy personnel on board Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean are safe following the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that had devastating effects on Southeast Asia. Facilities and operations were not affected.

Favorable ocean topography minimized the tsunami’s impact on the atoll. Diego Garcia is part of the Chagos Archipelago, situated on the southernmost part of the Chagos-Laccadive Ridge. To the east lies the Chagos Trench, a 400 mile long, underwater canyon that ranges in depth from less than 100 meters below the surface to depths that plunge to over 5,000 meters. It is one of the deepest regions of the Indian Ocean.

Diego Garcia is located to the west of Chagos Trench, which runs north and south. The depth of the Chagos Trench and grade to the shores does not allow for tsunamis to build before passing the atoll. The result of the earthquake was seen as a tidal surge estimated at six feet.

Below are two photos from the “Navy NewsStand – Eye on th Fleet” of the damaged USS San Francisco. As you can tell, it is a tribute to the fine training of the Navy that this vessel returned to port at all and even more so that the casualties were so light…

If you look closely you can see her port outer tube doors are folded into the wreckage. This was no case of “bump and run”. This lady got smacked HARD! Note also that she must have impacted a stone “wall” as the damage is fairly evenly spread through the vertical cross section. Also note the scrapes down the port side. Damn! She sure took a beating. I’m happy to have missed that party!

Sometimes it pays to review one’s thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. Over time you will often find that your viewpoint has changed. That is one thing that makes a blog really handy. Just run a search on your own archives and *poof!*, there ya go! Everything you have written on a topic. And that is exactly what I did on the topic “terrorist“.

I’m very pleased to report that my stance on terrorist has not changed. I still hate them. I still want them dead. And, if we somehow manage to catch UBL then the President should mount his severed head on one of those spikes atop the White House gates. Hell, I would.

I’m very happy with how America is beginning to toughen up a wee bit. When I started blogging everyone was screaming about the horrors the terrorist were perpetrating against hostages they held, including brutal beheadings. That must have made the assholes feel pretty damned good to see Americans ready to puke. (I nearly did myself after viewing one of those tapes…)

But then Americans began to get hard again.

Just like we did with the British in the 1770’s and in 1814, and the Mexican/American and Spanish/American wars. In WWI and WW Twice. Then in Korea, and yes, ‘Nam. We can be hard when required. And the terrorist woke up one morning and saw no more footage of their atrocities on the morning news. What they saw instead was more and more Americans troops pouring in. They saw American forces, when fired upon from a masque, suddenly turn loose a hail of high explosive rounds that reduced said masque to a memory. No more Mr. Nice Guy. Suddenly video-taped recordings of beheadings were no longer in vogue. Perhaps no one wanted to be caught with a bloody knife and a video camera at a Marine checkpoint. (shiver! I know I wouldn’t!)
Yeah, we’re definitely harder than we were.

But we need to be harder still.

Time is all that is needed to complete our victory in Iraq now. But there are more nations out there harboring terrorist. They must ALL be purged. The end will not come with UBL’s head on a gate, but when anyone who dares consider a terrorist strike shoots himself rather than carry though with an attack on America or her children.

Currently, I still own all nine toes. You may recall I lost one a while back… The big toe on the left foot was “bad” and had to be lopped off even with my foot. You may also recall that I’ve been fighting an open wound on the big toe of my *right* foot since June ‘04.

The doctor sent me for X-rays on my foot and has examined the results. I had the chance to see the films myself and I could not recognise the bones in that toe as human. The bones are wildly distorted. The doctor says that that toe has had an on-going infection for a long time. Much longer than the open wound. Now *that* is frightening! Exactly just how long have I been walking around with this time-bomb in my foot? No one can say.

The plan of attack is as follows:
a) Continue my current round of antibiotics to completion. I’m taking 400 mg doses of Avelox.
b) An MRI has been requested through the VA. This could take a while, (Perhaps *too* long.), as the VA works on its own speed, Veteran’s health not withstanding.
c) A round of IV antibiotics will follow if the MRI shows anything active.
d) If all else fails – *chop!*

I wonder if they will let me keep the toe? The bones would make an interesting necklace…..

Guess who came for breakfast… but isn’t leaving!

Yep. Another rescued animal.
Yep. Another snake.
Yep. Another Ball Python.

This one’s name is “Nosey“. She, (yeah, this one has been tested for gender), is a younger version, much smaller than her counter-part, “Sneaky“. Currently “Sneaky” hits the weigh-in at 44 inches in length and 1.337 kilograms. “Nosey” weighed in this morning at 32 inches and 434 grams. She also appears to be in excellent over-all health and is carrying no mites or ticks. We will take both Ball Pythons to the vet next week for a check-up and a fecal float to determine gut parasite load, if any.

The rescue occurred because of a military (Marine), transfer and the family was unable to take the snake. Had we been unable to accept, they planned to release it into the wild. A definite no-no under any circumstances! While young, the creature has had good care. Sadly, it isn’t always so. If you will recall, “Sneaky” was a mass of scar tissue from a**holes that used a shovel and rake to handle it thinking the snake was venomous!
Note: Study the reptiles BEFORE you buy! They may grow into beast you can’t handle or don’t want, but don’t go in ignorant!
We see this all the time, especially with Iguanas. They start as cute wee green lizards, but then turn into 6ft long dinosaurs that require vast amounts of space and lots and lots of fresh veggies. (More than many Americans eat, actually.) When they start to get big, the frightened owner will abandon them at the first opportunity. Lady Beth just related a story from her job where a woman came in for supplies for her new pet – an Iguana that someone dropped out of their car in the middle of a shopping center parking lot. That’s right, in a parking lot.
Remember!: Study the reptiles BEFORE you buy!

Keep in mind, folks, that most people just chunk the unwanted beast into the nearest wood lot. That is no good for the beast, nor for local wildlife. Already Florida is having a problem with giant pythons competing with alligators in the Everglades, or eating them out right! All due to people not taking time to learn about what they are buying. That 2 ft. neat colored albino Burmese Python is a cute little bugger now, but in a couple of years he will grow to a possible 16 ft snake that weighs more than you want to be picking up AND eats grown rabbits for dinner.
Yeah, just like you kids pet bunny… or your poodle.
The result is people like us taking in rescued animals in order to keep them out of the wild and give them the care they deserve. After all, these are – for the most part – captive-bred animals. Bred strictly for pets. They didn’t ask to be born. They didn’t want to turned out in the wild. Should this continue I foresee a future where snakes will be banned as pets. Another case of people blaming the animal for their own mistakes, similar to bans on dog breeds rather than holding the owners accountable.

Consider donating to a rescue or zoo in your home town, too…

The following is an account from the Diving Officer of the SSN-711 USS San Francisco. The name of the officer has been withheld.

****************************************

As you read the following, the Diving Officer’s very descriptive account of the
SSN-711 catastrophe, you will see that Woody’s statement was accurately reflected in the moments following the impact of the San Francisco’s collision. The boat and it’s crew would not have survived otherwise.

This is a very graphic writing of the occurrence:

To say that I’ve had a bad year so far would be a little short on the ooth I
think. Last year was a good one for the boat. After spending 5 months away
from home in drydock (Sandy Eggo) we got our second BA on ORSE (bad juju), received the highest score in PacFlt for a submarine TRE inspection, aced our mine readiness inspection with 4 out of 4 hits, completed 2 outstanding missions (will have to shoot you), and completed a early ORSE just before Christmas with an EXCELLENT.

It was also the first year that Auxiliary Division had a Christmas standown since coming out of the yards in 2002. A-division also took the CSS-15 Red DC award for the second year in a row. My retention has been 100% since I checked onboard in Oct 2002 amongst 1st/2nd and turd termers.

We were going to our first true liberty port 2 weeks ago, heading for
Brisbane and fun in the sun. As this WOG knows, we were getting ready for
our crossing the line ceremony and the crew was really upbeat, and hard
charging, we had just completed a great year for the San Fran.

To say the world went to shyte in a hand basket would be an understatement.
I would put it closer to a nightmare that becomes reality.

LAKE JACKSON, Texas ?? A woman has been indicted on negligent homicide charges for allegedly giving her husband a sherry enema that killed him.

Michael Warner, 58, died last May after the enema caused his blood-alcohol level to rise to .47 percent.

“That’s extremely high,” Detective Lt. Robert Turner said. “You’re either going to be in the hospital or the funeral home with that much alcohol.”

Tammy Warner, 42, was indicted last week.

Turner said Michael Warner was an alcoholic who could not swallow liquor because of ulcers and heartburn.

“He was told that he could not drink alcohol or that he would die, according to the people that we interviewed,” Turner said. “We are going to prove that she gave him the sherry and that she knew that he wasn’t supposed to have any and that it could be detrimental to his health, and that she gave it to him anyway.”

Tammy Warner was released on $30,000 bail. Her attorney did not immediately return a call Thursday.

Damn. Just… just… just DAMN!

A Marine General is in some bit of warm water concerning his statements concerning the enemy. As usual, panty-waist Liberals are all hurt over the TRUTH. Here, read a bit of the story…

WASHINGTON â€??? A decorated Marine Corps general said, “It’s fun to shoot some people” and poked fun at the manhood of Afghans as he described the wars U.S. troops are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

His boss, the commandant of the Marine Corps, said Thursday that the comments reflected “the unfortunate and harsh realities of war” but that the general has been asked to watch his words in public.

Lt. Gen. James Mattis, a career infantry officer who is now in charge of developing better ways to train and equip Marines, made the comments Tuesday while speaking to a forum in San Diego.

According to an audio recording, he said, “Actually, it’s a lot of fun to fight. You know, it’s a hell of a hoot. … It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up front with you, I like brawling.

He added, “You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them.

Among Marines, Mattis is regarded as a fighting general and an expert in the art of warfare. Among his decorations are the Bronze Star with a combat distinguishing device and a combat action ribbon, awarded for close-quarters fighting.

He is currently the commanding general of the Marine Corps Combat Development Command in Quantico, Va., and deputy commandant for combat development.

Well…. I’d happily award Lt. Gen. James Mattis the “Bull-ish Truth Award” for his words. Hell, reminds me of Patton. And if I may….

For my Lady Beth. A story just for her is all she asked of me.

They were four friends on a weekend camp along what they thought was an ordinary river in the Appalachian foothills of South Carolina. The weather was cold and they had almost canceled the trip because of it. Night time temperatures were expected to drop into the upper twenties. Dave, the most experienced of the group figured that along the riverbanks the number could go lower. Maybe much lower.

But, the other couple were really stoked about going, as was Annie, (Dave’s girlfriend), and everyone was indeed outfitted with the most modern of clothing and equipment. After all, they fully expected to do this very chance they could for years to come and in every exotic location possible. There was actually three couples in this little camping club, but one had backed out this weekend due to a nasty cold the male partner had picked up from his job at the hospital in nearby Greenville. So at the appointed hour on Friday afternoon the two remaining couples, Dave & Annie and Mike & Donna met at the parking lot next to the Chattooga River Trout hatchery, checked their gear, hitched up their heavy packs and with colorful aluminum hiking staffs they set off down the trail.

A two hour hike at a slow pace would put them where they wanted to be. An old established campsite right on the river surrounded on both sides of the flow by old growth forest. Minimal undergrowth made for a spectacular view of the mountainsides and deer often fed on the mast of these old forest giants. The river itself formed a large, seemingly deep pool here before continuing its way down the borders of Georgia and South Carolina. Eventually it would grow to the best whitewater rafting in the Southeast, but here it was relatively small and cold, well known for fine trout fishing. The group very much expected to see a fly fisherman or two before the weekend ended.

They made excellent time and camp was set well before dark, even on this winter night. The guys took the opportunity to lay in as large a pile of deadfall as they could for the night was already looking to be a bitter one. The girls helped for a while, then decided to break out the stoves and boil up some water for the dehydrated foods they planned to dine upon for the next four meals. With energy bars for lunch. Minimal weight, minimal wrappers to pack out. Soon the scent of re-hydrate beef stew drifted through the forest drawing the guys back from their rather successful forage.
