2005 June | The Bull Speaks! - Part 2

Yep. Finally.

We just got home from the Gun Show in Mobile. I’m sitting here at my desk holding a grey plastic box holding one, brand new, Model# NV-44 Ruger New Vaquero, (.45 Colt). Blued, w/ color case-hardened frame and black “hard rubber” grips. I’ve waited my entire life to have a revolver in this caliber and I have a few things to tell all of my shooting bretheren about it.

  • First: every good thing you know about Rugers is still true.
  • Second: Ruger has outdone themselves.
  • Third: all the rumors concerning this gun being recalled, or needing a recall, is pure bunk!
  • Fourth: It does have an internal lock, but it is hidden and does not engage unless you want it. Further, you can modify the grip panel by drilling a hole (marked properly by Ruger for you) in order to use the internal lock without removing the grip. This lock is NOT an issue! (I chose to drill the hole. I’ve got three kids under 5 years of age. I’ll be using the lock a bunch! I hardly notice the hole in the right hand grip panel.)
  • Finally, if I could I’d buy another!
  • No kidding guys. It’s all we hoped for – and more!!!!
    Omar, out.

Yep. They are still coming in… and going out.

In the last two days we’ve really made some changes & improvements to our Rescue setup. Actually, we were kinda forced into it because we had stacked much of our equipment in what is going to be my daughter Clancy’s room next week when she moves in to go to school. There have been a few donations of equipment and two more rescues and one adoption.

The first new rescue was a rabbit of all things. What’s got me staggered is that the crazy thing is litterbox trained! Didn’t know you could do that…

The second was a 5 foot 3 inch Central American Boa. Man, what a beauty!

Our latest successful adoption occurred today with “Lucky” the parakeet going home with a true bird lover. She will be very happy in her new home. She’ll have eleven friends to fly with in an outdoor aviary.

Pictures of every beastie are on the Chaos & Critters Reptile Rescue website.

If you have not been to the site in a while, go and check out the new digs. We’ve got our own domain now. It is also running on WordPress v1.5.1.2! You can find the Reptile Rescue at http://chaosandcritters.org/. Remember: All comments and/or suggestions are always welcome. Enjoy!  End of Article
