2005 July | The Bull Speaks! - Part 2

Well, the Governor of Alabama has ordered a mandatory evacuation of ALL of Mobile County. That’s 400,000 people! It is an unprecedented move on the part of the government here – and a stupid one as well as there is no place for the people to go. No hope at all for those with animals.

The kids are with Tony, (Lady Beth’s ex). We don’t know his complete plan. More info as we get it.

As it stands now, we are still planning on staying put. No way we can leave and take 6 grown dogs, 6 puppies, 2 cats, a Hedgehog, Uromastix lizard, and 4 dragons. Besides, the number one problem is that once you are gone, there is no way they will let you go home. So, your animals starve to death and you get robbed blind by looters. Screw that. We will leave only at gun point.

By the way: Looters will be shot on sight. Survivors will be shot again. (Just so you know…)

We don’t know what they may do to force us out. Perhaps cut our power. So, not knowing, this *may* be the last message out of our place for quite a while. I will continue to send updates as long as there is power and DSL service.

No one knows what this storm will do, least of all us. These monster storms are indeed a pain, but there is a certain price to pay everywhere. Blizzards, ice storms, tornados, earthquakes, what-have-you. All we can do is ask everyone to pray for us and the rest of the population of the Gulf Coast.

Keep us all in your thoughts!

Wunderground’s computer models are predicting the impact of Hurricane “Dennis” to be East of Pensacola, FL. That would be a huge help for us, but bloody awful for those in Pensacola. There is still much un-repaired damage over there from Hurricane “Ivan“.

I’m still not much relieved for computer models are just that – models. With Mother Nature there no certain prediction. A direct hit on Mobile Bay is a mere twitch away in terms of a Catagory 4 or better storm. With such a monster the damage would be horrendous. Our favorite hangout, Dauphin Island would most surely cease to exist. It is nothing more than a small sandbar barrier island to begin with, no real stable soil. “Ivan” cut the West end of the island into many tiny bits. Sand Island, a wee spot in the Gulf has moved in so close that the water depth at the end of the pier on Dauphin Island has gone from 35 feet to a mere 18 inches! A strong storm that hits hard would likely leave nothing but floating debris around the remains of Fort Gaines. The last time we were down there someone was beginning construction of many condos next to the public beach. In order to lay a foundation they are sinking 750 pilings. Why so many? Well, none of them sit on anything but sand. The idea is that if they sink enough of them the building will have to stand. Sort of like pushing a hairbrush into the sand. I don’t see The Bull investing in one of those condos – or any other barrier island real estate!

Speaking of real estate… One thing that a direct hit on the Bay would do is thoroughly test Mobile’s supposedly “storm-proof” City Hall. You’d have to see this building to believe it. To me, the roof looks like someone has set a pair of huge jibs on the roof in order to catch a wind-powered ride up to Mongomery! Looks totally screwball to me, but what do I know? I’m just a cripple with too much time on his hands…

Today, or rather “yesterday” was spent preparing for the arrival of a beast to be known as Hurricane Dennis and painting an antique bed frame for my daughter. All-in-all, the painting was more enjoyable. My day was tons better though than that of our British allies over in London. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Brits as they bury their dead and clean up the mess left by yet another cell of ball-less terrorist idiots.

Seriously, has anyone ever before seen such cowardness as what is shown daily by these militant Muslim asswipes? If I didn’t have anymore backbone than those towel-headed morons show I’d be praying to whatever Diety applied for either the miracle growth of one, or a sudden death in my sleep. Damned if I’d be wanting to take out innocent men, women, and children because of my own cowardace. I guess that is the difference between “Us” and “them” though, isn’t it? Sorry if that statement offeds the sensabilities of some of my more liberal readers, but facts are facts. With each and every terrorist attack the sane bits of Humanity see this entire thing as more and more an “The World” vs. “The Arabs“. It’s a shame, too. I’ve personally never met an Arab I didn’t like, yet recent affairs force me to watch each one I meet with a certain level of suspicion.

As for Hurricane “Dennis”, all I can say is that I’m worried. “Ivan” was plenty big enough a headache. Tomorrow we’ll board up the windows and then I’ll sit on a small stool of a while attempting to get the generator to fire off and run. Would have been nice to have had the season run as usual, but nooooo…. The bloody monsters come early this year. Something about this one worries me. Too close to the track of “Ivan”, I suppose. At any rate, please wish us well. We’ll need it!

Here’s a new song for all the members of me clan to remember for whence we once again are gathered about the fires…

Scotland’s Depraved!
(sung to ‘Scotland The Brave’)

Chorus:
Bring me some whiskey, mother,
I’m feeling frisky, mother.
I need a sheep to keep me warm through the night!

I need a lover, mother,
No, not my brother, mother.
England may rule the seas, but Scotland’s depraved.

Chorus:

Gerbils don’t make it, mother,
They just can’t take it, mother.
England may rule the seas, but Scotland’s depraved.

Chorus:

Owls, bats and other critters,
Just tend to give me jitters.
England may rule the seas, but Scotland’s depraved.

Chorus:< /p>

I need some lanolin
Softer than flannel-in
England may rule the seas, but Scotland’s depraved.

Chorus:

I need an bovine lover
No other so-fine lover
England may rule the seas, but Scotland’s depraved.

Chorus:

Some think a swine is fine,
And some like a horse of course, and
England may rule the seas, but Scotland’s depraved.

Chorus:

Their fleece is soft and white,
They keep you warm at night.
England may rule the seas, but Scotland’s depraved.

Chorus:

Monogamy is a folly
I think I’ll clone dear ol’ Dolly
England may rule the seas, but Scotland’s depraved.

Chorus:

Bring me my sheets of rubber
Bring me my peanut butter
England may rule the seas, but Scotland’s depraved!

Tell me, what the heck are you thinking?!

If you are still using Internet Explorer you must not be thinking at all.

I just checked this blog on Internet Explorer only to find that the thing looks awful – again! Hours of work went into the CSS and then, two months later, IE has hacked it to pieces with its inability to maintain conformity to established rules.

Screw IE! Get FirefoxNOW!

Ok. I need help from YOU, my Dear Readers. I’m seeking a nice .47-70 single shot, or perhaps lever action rifle. I’m still not certain I’ll go with a .45-70, or just a .45 Colt lever gun, but I want all possible info to make a good decision.

One possiblility is the 1874 Sharps Carbine. Heck, as for the Single Shots, it is my first choice. Problem is that there are several different makers. Most are imports. If you have experience with any of these models, please, post a note here or email me!

Thanks!

Yep, I’m damned late in posting on this story. It was released nearly three days ago. Hey! My son, Jake, is visiting for a month during his Summer break. I’ll not allow any news story to disrupt our time together, or anything else for that matter! Now that I’ve got a minute to spare though…

Below is the news story from Fox News about how the Gold Star Mothers are changing their rules. I’ll comment afterward.

DALLAS ?? A group for mothers whose children died in war voted Monday to allow non-U.S. citizens to join, after coming under criticism for denying membership to a Filipina mother whose son was killed in Afghanistan.

The 1929 charter of American Gold Star Mothers had prevented foreign citizens from joining. Earlier this year, the organization’s 12-member executive board voted against changing the rule.

That prevented Ligaya Lagman, of Yonkers, N.Y., from joining, although she is a legal resident and her son, 27-year-old son Army Staff Sgt. Anthony Lagman, (American Hero), was a U.S. citizen. After hearing about her interest in joining, New York Gov. George Pataki and other lawmakers urged the group to change its rules.

“Quite simply, the loss a mother endures when her son or daughter makes the ultimate sacrifice for our nation â€??? is no less honorable or admirable because of her citizenship status,” Pataki said Monday.

The change was approved unanimously Monday during the American Gold Star Mothers ‘ annual convention in the Dallas area.

“This change to our constitution was the right thing to do, but we had to make the change the right way,” said Judith Young, the group’s new president.

More than 140 military service members who were not U.S. citizens have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Legal residents who are not citizens have long served in the U.S. military.

Well now, isn’t that nice…? The xenophobic hussies have changed their rules. Good, but NOT GOOD ENOUGH! They still must do two things to erase the blot of dishonor from their names.

  • 1) Send Ligaya Lagman, of Yonkers, N.Y., her Gold Star without any further horseshyte &/or application gom. (there is Homer’s word again!).
  • 2) Make a public, and well documented, apology to Ligaya Lagman and all of the other mothers that have been treated like trash rather than the mothers of our Fallen Heroes.
  • Once they accomplish these tasks then America can begin to forgive & forget. Should they not do these things they will continue to have The Bull and his readers to contend with on a daily basis!

One last point: There is no doubt in my mind that it was those daily letters, Dear Readers, that made the difference in the end. Good work, my Friends!
