I know… Last thing you wanted to see. Tough! It’s MY blog. If you don’t like it, write your own. (…and don’t forget the “Rules”…)
Several things have been going on here at The Bull’s Home and Zoo. Animal-wise, the numbers are starting to pick up again. We’ve placed the Bouvier des Flandres and a kitten recently. We’ve taken in two bunnies, another kitten, an absolutely stunning baby Ball Python, a Cuban Tree Frog that a lady found in her Mobile, AL front yard, an iguana, and a female Mali Uromastyx that came to us near (very near) death. I don’t think the Uro is going to make it.
Oh, our female “Sandfire” Bearded Dragon is gravid. That means pregnant for you non-herpers out there. We can expect anywhere from seven to forty-eight eggs. Those little beasties sell for up to $100 a piece!! Hmmm… a new rifle? I know: “Don’t count your Dragons before they hatch“. Still, I’d really like a Thompson/Center Encore rifle chambered for the 260 Remington or the 6.5×55mm Swiss. That would be a fun shooter.
Shooting. I LOVE shooting! I’m simply nuts about accuracy and loading my own even as I’m noticing my eye sight ain’t what it used to be. I’ve got to get on the phone today and make some calls to the owners of a nearby shooting range. I need to get out my chronograph and check some new .45 Colt loads I’ve worked up for the Ruger “New Vaquero” revolver and the Winchester “Trapper” carbine. So far, I’ve worked up loads for several bullets including the ol’ 255 grain RNFP, Speer 250 grain Gold Dot JHP, Hornady 250 grain XTP, and the big Beartooth 280 grain WFNGC. Today I hope to load some with a Cast Performance 265 grain WFNGC. When I do get to a range somewhere it will take all day to fire these loads through the chrony. That’s a GOOD THING!
‘Tis a shame that there are so many houses close to mine or I’d have got to shoot last night. The dogs began barking and I thought they needed a trip to the backyard for a nature break. Turned out the entire neighborhoods dogs were going nuts. When I looked out the front door a damned coyote, of all things, was walking right down the middle of our street. What’s up with that? Lady Beth questioned my eyesight, but I’ve shot enough coyotes to know the difference between them and domesticated dogs.
The kids are doing well. Kelli took the ASVAB exam, (a military aptidude-type exam), and scored high. Clancy’s current numerical average grade at the Univ. of So. Ala. stands at 112!. Jake is loving school and skaeboarding when he can. Sarah and the twins, (Jack & “Bug”) are doing well in school despite being taught by me. The young ones miss their Daddy terribly but somehow understand that American Heroes like him have a job in the Middle East to do and will come home as soon as possible.
Speaking of Tony, I need to get started on the “Travels of Franklin“. I’m delaying the posting in order to not list the movements of his unit until after it is done. The unit seems to really be into that little plastic cartoon turtle. It reminds me of that old thing with the Lawn and Garden Gnomes. Get ready, the pics are coming soon!
Tony, you and your mates keep a watch on your top knots and an eye on you backtrail. Good Hunting!
