Yes, yes. I know all of the arguements for the continuation of the sale of managerial rights to our ports to the U.A.E. However, that some idiots in Washington actually thought that Americans were going to just swallow the news of such a story without blowing a head gasket simply boggles the imagination.
I can understand that it was pretty much a done deal before Dubya heard about it. Hell, he’s got a lot on his plate every single day. I even like the fact that ol’ George is a loyal friend and employer. Damn me if I can understand, though, why he hasn’t shit-canned a bunch of the lower-end gang and put this deal right into the Circular File. The Gods all know that it sure belongs there!
Turning an Arab state loose with the control of six of our major East Coast and Gulf Coast ports. It don’t get ANY more idiotic than that! Yes, the U.A.E is our “friend”. For now. Hell, anyone would when the entire US Navy is anchored off your coast along with some 75 other Allied warships! We won’t mention the tens of thousands of troops in the immediate neighborhood. Of course the U.A.E is all friendly.
Let us not forget that they backed the Taliban. Let’s not forget where the money that paid for the 9-11 attacks was laundered. Let us also not forget that a number of the highjackers on that fateful morning were from the U.A.E.
Do I sound like an Isolationist? Yeah, I do. It doesn’t bother me near as much as finding out that another country - even if it was the United Kingdom - has been running many of our major ports for years on end. I’m even more of an Isolationist when I think of an unstable Arab country running those same ports. Today I watched the Senate Hearings on the matter and the one question that kept running across my few remaining brain cells was this:
What is wrong with Americans managing American ports?
I managed property for too many years I guess, but it is my experience that Property Management is Property Management. The numbers may have more or less zeros on the end, but the process is the same - and it ain’t that damned difficult!
Get me an American company to manage those ports, and ALL of the others. Our borders. Our ports of entry. Our Country.
Our lives!
Get with the program, Dubya.
Omar, out. ![]()

Turn away from the “Dark Side”? ME? Nah. I still lean rather far to the Conservative point of view. This, however, is silly in anyone’s book!
Gimme a call sometime, woman!
