Spammers Hit a New Low

Wed, 05 Jul 2006 12:38:32 -0400 by Bull

Spammers should all be hung by their family jewels until dead, or at the very least, impaled. This is a Universal Truth among serious Bloggers and anyone with an email account anywhere. One we all agree upon.

Now it seems that the email spammers have hit an all-time low. Below is an email I recieved this morning targeting Right-Thinking America’s desire to help and support our Armed Forces now in action in the Middle East. Check out this pile o’ horse crap…

Good Day,
I hope my email meets you well. I am in need of your assistance. My name is Sgt. Jarvis M. Reeves, Jr. I am in the Engineering military unit here in Ba’qubah in Iraq, we have some cash that we have moved out of Iraq. My colleagues and I need a good partner, someone we can trust. It is oil money and is legal.

However, it was moved out through a diplomatic means to Europe. The most important thing is that can we trust you once the funds get to you because we will give you 30 percent and you keep our own 70 percent and manager it untill when we leave Iraq. Your own part of this deal is to find a safe place where the funds can be sent or transferred to. Our own part is giving instructions to the firm that you will be contacting them for it. If you are interested I will furnish you with more details. But the whole process is simple and we must keep a low profile at all times.

Waiting for your urgent response.

Regards,
Sgt. Jarvis M Reeves, Jr.

No, this isn’t the first email of this kind to slither into my mailbox. I’ve had several. I’ve also had comments of this same ilk attempt to splatter this blog with filth. Thanks to the builders of the anti-comment spam plug-in Akismet, they have failed. What a plug-in! As of this writing Akismet has squashed in excess of 8850 spam comments on this blog alone - and that only since 20 Feb 2006! I don’t mean this to be an endorsement of that anti-spam plug-in, but it has certainly worked for me.

Folks, this sickens me. It is an outrage! To use our fighting men and women for illegal gain! Bah!

Methinks that there has to be someone out there that has a method with which we can take the offensive and do battle with these scum-bags. What we need is some means of accurately tracking down the spammers and then seeing to it that they are legally denied service by their providers.

Seriously disgusted,
Bull, out.  End of Article
