An Old Fashioned, Future Dad | The Bull Speaks!

Call me old fashioned.

Go on, I mean it! I’m damned proud of being “old fashioned” in the way I’m rearing my kids. If the Liberal Moonbat Left, or anyone else, doesn’t like it then they can simply go to hell.

A few of the things I teach to, and then demand of my kids are…

  • Say “Please”, “Thank you”, “Sir”, and “Ma’am”,
  • Understand what the word “No” means,
  • Have a healthy respect for authority,
  • Wear clothes made for humans, and wear them as designed,
  • Don’t have televisions in their bedrooms, (There is only one in the house),
  • Watch only one hour of approved cartoons per day – and only if all else is done,
  • Have chores they must do and don’t get paid for,
  • Study hard and play hard. Each in its own time
  • Respect the Rights and Beliefs of others,
  • Know what they may and may not touch,
  • Understand that inanimate objects, like guns, are not and can never be “evil”,
  • Learn to handle and shoot guns under supervision at age 12,
  • Take responsibility for their own actions, both good and bad,
  • Know where their food comes from and that something, plant or animal, died to feed them,
  • Help clean up after meals, clean their rooms, and put their own dirty clothes in the laundry,
  • Stand up for what they believe to be Right and Just,
  • Honor and cherish the United States, her troops, and her flag
  • Honor, Love, and Obey their parents.

Of course there are others, but that’s a fair example.

Do I punish infractions? Damned skippy! Though ny eldest, (now 19), tells me I’ve gone soft since she was coming up most would still consider me draconian in my means of discipline. I also lavish praise on each child’s achievement, however small. Finally, Love is something they get in large doses everyday. Love surrounds them, with the animals we keep, the time we share, the memories we make, and the work we do. They know – beyond any doubt – they are Loved. Even on the rare occassions when they require punishment. They also see Love in their home. They see me and their Mom holding hands while we read or walk. They see us hug and kiss, and they hear the words “I love you” often, Between Lady Beth and me, and from us to each of them.

Does my method work? Well, it certainly seems to work. Six kids, ages 19 to 4 with the youngest two being twin boys. I can take any or all anywhere at any time without concern as I know just how well they will carry themselves. Only one, an 18 yr old girl, that gives me any concern and yet I know she will be fine and do well.

All-in-all, not bad for a tattooed, pierced, shaven-headed, Pagan ‘freak’. That’s right, I don’t look like the type. I look more like the guy you would warn your daughters about and fear your son will turn into one day. Yet I was reared with a set of expectations and a strong love of both my family and my Country. I intend to rear all of my children with that same set of REAL American values. Not the political versions thereof. And while you may not like it, you will certainly not stop me so long as I draw breath. You see, one other thing I was taught by my parents is that Americans fight for what they believe.

It just goes to show that you really can’t judge a book by its cover – not to mention this Dad!

Bull, out!

  1. Well I guess I’m old fashioned too. And I shave my head.
