Ths weekend I was thrilled to get an email from Terry Savanich of Our Bandit Leather Crafters lettiing me know my new left-handed half-flap holster is complete and ready to be shipped! I expect it to arrive this week. Heck, he even sent pictures!
I decided against having the holster ‘lined’ to, I hope, limber up the flap a bit or a slightly quicker draw. Fact is, adding a lining is oft done wrong, or rather done with the wrong leather. Terry will line a holster the way it should be – with smooth, top-grain leather.

Looking at the photos it appears that free range leather is used at Our Bandit. Excellent! Leather, in The Bull’s opinion, (and who would know better?), should not be without character. This comes from fly and tick bites, run-ins with barbed wire, branding irons, coyotes and such. I also like the ’slicked’ finish. Many will disagree saying it looks almost plastic. So it does – right now. Add in honest wear, gun oil, sweat, powder residue, and a bit of sun to cook the mixture and this finish will age to perfection. Should I awake from next week’s surgery, and the Liberal Loonies don’t hold a coup on the Constitution, you will get to see this aging process take place right here on The Bull Speaks!. I’m certain these won’t be the last photos of my shootin’ gear.

Finally, fine leather for my Baby!
Bull, (aka: Nine-Toed Omar), out.
