Time is passing on | The Bull Speaks!

The days continue to pass, and to those wondering where I’ve been note that The Bull is tugging at his chains eager to be free. With luck I’ll be totally bandage free for the first time since 2004 by the weekend. That’s a seriously long time for anyone to have to deal with open wounds. This last run with the foot becoming infected after surgery was a really rough patch for The Bull. To be honest, it took me so far down into a funk that I began to let others see my discomfort with Life. That is something I never allow!

I’ve not been totally a slacker during this last wound battle though. Lady Beth and I drove over and picked up the Mosin-Nagant 7.62×54mm rifle that I won in a Christmas drawing over at GunsandFun.com. We haven’t had the opportunity to shoot it yet, but it may get tried out in battle, so to speak, when our Club holds our first All Stock Military Rifle Competition on the 28th of this month.

On other fronts, I’ve made contact over the holidays with a long-lost, and much missed, friend – Ricky Roberts. Here is the “Go-To Guy” when speaking of this Scottish. He’s also a damned fine shooter who makes it out to the NMLRA matches every year. It’s been far too long Ricky. I’m glad to have you back in my life. I have also successfully patched up the relationship with one of my sisters. How we let it go so long I can’t understand.

I’ve also had time to work on my book concerning my REAL life before marrying Lady Beth. If I had kept every word written then the thing would be at least ten chapters long now. As it stands tonight, there are just a few thousand words down. I write plenty, but keep trashing bits because as I write my memories come flooding back and I am forced to re-write what I’ve done. There is a growing sense of urgency with this project. I have no clue why, save for a weak hope that when it is finished – published or not – I will be able to finally walk away from my past and let my spirit rest in peace. Of course, there is a serious possibility that there are people out there that will not want the book published despite my changing of names to protect both the innocent and the guilty. The Gods alone know what my new family here in Mobile, AL will think of me. As it stands right now most can currently sit at a table with me without twitching. That may change. Perhaps Mom and I will be able to talk plainly when it is over. She knows bits and pieces but has never put it all together. Time will tell, won’t it? I’m just thankful that Lady Beth knows ALL and loves me anyway.

Bull, out.

The past, I feel ya. Doubt I’d ever write a book on mine tho. I personally can’t go there.

    Hey Bull!
Glad to hear you’re getting better and the bandages will be 86′d! I have a friend looking to get into educating others about reptiles and such. Do you have any contacts? You can email me off-blog if you like….

Glad to see you kicking a&& again!
