On one of the forums The Bull participates in on a regular basis a topic was formed about militant Christians. It fairly quickly degenerated into a argument between the ‘God-believers’ and the ‘God-less’. I knew I should keep my mouth shut, but I didn’t. It’s been 24 hours now and no one has said a word since I posted. Weird.
Thought I’d post my comment for your consideration.
I probably shouldn’t get involved here. Why? Because I’m not a Christian, I’m Pagan.
That said, let me say a couple of other things:
First, when one of my six kids comes to me and ask “Is there a God?” I answer them by taking them into the yard with four sticks and a few feet of string. I tap the sticks into the ground exactly 12 inches apart forming a square. Then I mark off that square with the string. That done, I give him/her my watch and tell the child to lay down and spend 15 minutes watching everything in that 1 ft. square. Then turn over and spend 15 minutes watching the sky. After a half hour when they come back to me I ask them if they think that everything they just saw could have possibly happened by accident. So far four of the six have asked. All four say there must be a ‘God’ of some sort. That much stuff, in that detail, just doesn’t happen by accident!
Now, for those wanting to burn the Pagan… Each of my kids go to church with their grandparents -and- have service with their mother and me. When they are old enough to make up their own minds it is up to each to decide how they want to worship, or if they wish to worship at all. Of those kids who have made a choice, all are Christian.
And I love them all - even more than they love their old man!
That covers the religion debate as far as I’m concerned. Our big problem in America is saving our Nation from its enemies - both without and within. Both are equally deadly. Freedom of Religion is guaranteed in America, but only so long as America herself stands free! Should the Socialist Left, the Communist, or the Islamic Fascist gain power enough here to attack our Constitution, the ‘Bill of Rights’ will be the first thing to go.
True Americans need to get their priorities straight. Afterwards we can sit around the camp fires and debate the various faiths all you want - in peace and with confidence that no one will be imprisoned or killed on the basis of their faith.
Without Freedom, Life is meaningless.
Now I’m waiting on the explosion.
