A Bull out on a Limb

Tue, 01 May 2007 16:08:18 -0400 by Bull

Well, here is something you don’t see every day. A Bull out on a limb - a very thin limb!

As you know, if you’ve read this blog long enough, The Bull suffers from my health related problems. Most of these problems involve the spine and the spinal cord. The short version is limited physical strength as compared to previous levels, limited sleep, and unlimited pain. Several surgeries failed to return my back to ‘as issued’ condition. Damned near left me in a chair for life. However, I’m too bull-headed for that! (Proving my dear deceased Dad correct about my character.)

The result of all these surgeries, lack of sleep, and pain is a severe ‘bulking up’ of The Bull. That may be too light a statement. Try this…

The Bull has become fat. Period.

I’ve got to loose this weight! I’m not looking to become ‘Kalifornia-skinny’. I’m not even looking to reach the weight that the US Navy wanted me to be. I’m looking to lose thirty eight pounds (38 lbs.) That will bring me to 225 pounds. That is ten pounds below what I weighed fresh out of Boot Camp. When I enlisted in the Navy I weighed 216 pounds. The ‘powers-that-be’ thought I should weigh 185 pounds, so they fed me the stuff food itself eats and worked me twice as hard. The end result was an addition of 19 pounds of solid muscle. (They simply wrote out a waver and sent me to Submarine School in Groton, CT.) Since back then I was solid muscle and nearly an inch and a half taller, I feel that 225 lbs is a decent target. We shall see…

So that this plan doesn’t simply fade away into the archives The Bull has posted a Traineo widget in the sidebar to your right that will show my progress towards the goal weight. Keep an eye on it and feel free to razz me as much as you see fit in order to keep my nose-ring to the grindstone.

Bull, out.
