It is 2AM on a hot, sticky Saturday morning as The Bull sits down to write this post. There isn’t one issue in particular that is on my mind, other than I wish my bloody back would allow me to still be in bed with Lady Beth. Let me tell you, Dear Readers, I certainly got the better end of this marriage deal! My bride is the finest example of womanhood the planet has yet seen no matter how you slice it. The Bull is a very lucky man indeed! I’m in damned good shape children-wise, too! Six, (yes 6), beautiful kids ranging from 5 to 20 years of age. Three sons, three daughters. How fortunate can a man get? Yep, my herd is fine and strong. We are a force to be reckoned with, and I’m a happy man.
You know, this blog has been very good for me. Becoming suddenly disabled some five years ago wrecked my self-image every bit as much as it wrecked my personal and financial life. Writing, both on this blog and elsewhere has given me something that I can do even on the ‘bad days’ when my body just can’t do the physical things required by my other hobbies of shooting, fishing, and ‘experimental archeology’, (i.e. Living History). Seeing The Bull Speaks! grow from an idea and a desire to tinker to the blog it is today has been most gratifying. The Bull is looking forward to several more years of bellowing “Defiance of Tyranny” to the internet world. It was there fore very nice to be nominated for three Blogger’s Choice Awards. I don’t know that I’ve got the readership to even make a good showing in any of the three categories, but it is damned nice to be in the running. If you want to vote for this blog then you may do so by clicking on the links in the sidebar to your right. The Bull will be forever grateful.
Our Rescue, (Chaos & Critters, (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Mobile, AL specializing in exotic pets)), is doing well. Slow on donations as always, but we squeak by. By the end of this weekend we should be down to only two adoptable snakes. One Red-Tailed Boa and one Argentine Boa. It is a good feeling seeing these beast going to good and loving homes at last. They come to us often sick or abused and after much time and care making them whole again it is sometimes hard to send them out the door. It is even harder knowing we are one of only four or five very small rescues that accept reptiles in the entire United States of America. Folks seem to think nothing of throwing away the reptiles in the pet trade even though better than 95% of these creatures are captive bred and far from their native environments. The creatures suffer, starve, and die. Worse, in cases like those in the Florida Everglades certain species do not die but become a major threat to native species. In this instance I speak of Burmese Pythons breeding well and then hunting and feeding upon the American Alligator. Oh well, we do what we can. If anyone feels the need to donate to our cause then by all means visit the link to our website and make a donation via PayPal. We are also listed on iGive for those of you that do most of your shopping online. Remember: Your donations are 100% Tax Deductible!
Well, that is enough to make me once again ready to doze for a bit. I think I’ll try to sneak back to bed without awaking my bride or the Shih Tzu that is undoubtedly in my spot.
Bull, out. ![]()
