It’s cold in south Alabama this morning. I’m still recovering from yesterday’s bout with a stomach issue brought on, I think, from bad yogurt or some vile bug one of the kids brought home from school. Sitting in my chair I turned on the tube and caught an issue of American Justice. This episode was about the 1990’s “Club Kid” turned murderer, Michael Alig. Sentenced to 10 - 20 years, Alig was due to come up for parole this year.
When the show was over, The Bull, walked over to the computer and googled his name. In excess of 165,000 hits were listed. For a murderer! Geez… Well, if the guy’s story was interesting enough to spark a movie, a couple of books then there might be something to learn. The first hits were the usual Wikipedia hits. The third, however, was am article written by Jonathan Van Meter on the NYC Magazine web site titled Party Boy in a Cage.
The contrast between the two descriptions and the photos shows the degradation of Alig’s image, body, and soul after some ten years in the New York State penal system. It also shows, very clearly, that the party animal that dismembered a corpse he had kept in his bathtub for some ten days prior still has all of his ‘weapons’ near at hand. Ten years has done nothing to dull his wit, his charm, or his ability to instantly be - and act - exactly how the people around him want him to be and act. Van Meter nailed it. Alig is a human mirror. He is also still just as dangerous as he was at the time of his crime. Michael can claim he is now free of his drug habit, something that he has always blamed for his bloody act. Yet even I can see that at the first taste of freedom Alig will be at once trying to back into the NYC club scene and within days - if not hours - he’ll be back on heroin.
Alig was, (fortunately for us), denied parole. He’ll get another chance to go before the board in 2009. We can only hope that the State of New York sees at that future point that even twelve years is not enough time to rehabilitate such a waste of Human flesh as Michael Alig.
Damn. I’m glad I live in little ol’ Mobile, AL!

Try a HEINOUS crime. What fans? The 20 somethings who are now 40 somethings and have moved on. The alienated and disaffected youth of today. Drinking his own urine was not an assualt on sensibilities but an extreme act of self loathing. Alig will never be remorseful. Angel, no matter how loathsome, did not deserve to have has life forfeited. Hopefully leaves too much to chance and NO-ONE deserves anything!!
I talked with his mother last Sunday, and what a wonderful lady. She has lost so much herself. Her son, friends. She lives alone and is well. I am going to try to pay for her to fly to see Michael soon. She was an inspiration for all of us.
Michael was involved with a murder, but he will get out.
Oh…..where did anyone get where he drank his own urine? He didn’t…..he played a few tricks on others. He was such card….

Frankly, they both should have got the death penalty. I don’t know about this ‘Freeze’ chap, but Alig will manage to ’self-correct’ within a couple of months of release on an overdose of heroin. Watch and see.
I admit that Michael will need counciling and help, and with the help of his “real” friends and his mother, Michael will be free and will be great again. Oh, please Google someone else and leave us alone………………Godspeed.
I do agree that the crime he and Freeze commited was completely heinous, however, I’m certain this isn’t the first case of something horrible happening between a drug dealer and a couple of spracked out addicts.
I believe he has served his time, and he deserves a chance to show the world that he can come out and live a drug free life.
Assuming that he will get out and instantly overdose on heroin is a horrible thing to say.
What a way to show faith in the human spirit.
Michael has proved that he is capable of many things that others themselves would not be able to do. He is a very capable person, he just needs some direction.
So his FANS (of whom he has many, I am 19 and while I am appalled at the murder, he has done many other great things) need to provide him with support and love.
GO MICHAEL!!! YOU CAN DO IT!

I see that disliking him hasnt stopped you from interacting in debating about him so if this is a guy you could care less about than go find a hobby. You amy judge those of us who show support but like i said in my previous comment you are a closed mind person who can not see what we see in Michael.

per the FACTS. Michael Alig went into the system

once again at the LATEST 2013, which is only
five years more!!!! YAY! I’m so excited to see

my only cause for reply is when i see such

If you must know Michael’s friend Freeze did
the actual physical murder. He used the murder
weapon. Michael disposed of the body, tis why
Michael is not in there for MURDER charges!
And on that note I will close this post by
saying that there is much more to Michael than
this one thing. He is loved by SOOOOO many,can
you think of a reason we’d all adore him? Its
not because of the crime he commited. NO, that’s
just how some people found out about him. But,
as for myself, I’m not going to give my age, a
lady never does, but I knew of Michael Alig
years before this crime occured. But since he
has been in the prison I have enjoyed his letters
and he has honestly helped me get thru alot of
my hard times. He is full of remorse. If you
spoke to him he’d tell you that he always has
a knot in his stomach because of what he did -
and no matter what it will not go away. He
also shows remorse in other ways much too
personal for me to display to the net. But in
any event there are thousands of us who support
him and love him and always will……..and
we have plenty good reason for it!
Michael was very much into drugs and it all happened because of this. I do not believe, if he was sober that any of this would of happened. He is serving the sentence that he may deserve, but time is up. Time is up. It is time for Michael to come “home”, and show us his artwork, finish his “true” book and hire many of his friends for all of his projects. Bull……face it. Michael is coming out and he will show all the nay sayers that he is one of the most enduring individuals a person will ever meet. The past is the past. Bull, please….(as Cher said) snap out of it!
As I said before, a drunk driver kills people and get a minimum sentence. If you knew the whole story, you would think different. The movie is not a true story. It was made for the money. Did the movie makers give any money to Angel’s family? NO…………Did Michael make any of the money? NO………..Check your facts. The true facts. And while your at it….forgive.

How old are you? You are much too young to remember any of this except for what you have read. How do I know about any of this? I have read the court transcripts and the crime scene information, pictures, etc. This whole thing about Michael is only a small little bit of my life. I wrote a little about the topic and look at all the writing. It is amazing. I am fine but I know what I am talking about and it is obvious that you do not. If you watch the movie and read James St. James book, they are filled with nonsense to sell tickets and books. But, that is alright, because that is the world goes around.

On the subject of Robert, he actually has made an attempt at redeming himself by having nothing to do with the media carnival surrounding this horrid affair. It’s to Michael’s detriment that his ego wouldn’t allow him to do the same. People here who claim to be a friend of Michael’s say he is sorry for what happened. I hope for his sake that he is.
On the subject of Angel’s relatives. Michael’s mother has tried to make contact, but she has no phone number and no address to reach them. If anyone has it, please email it to me.
Also, if it was possible to make amends to Angel’s family, then what would it be? It can’t be his life, because it was taken away tragically. What could Michael and his family and fans do to make amends? What would make everyone happy? A million dollars? 100 million dollars? What would it take? He has said he was sorry. He has stayed clean for many years. He has spent many years in the worst prisons in New York. He has been humiliated, slammed up against walls, raped, and other things that are too horrible to mention. Enough is enough. I know Michael will show that he is a changed man when he is released. Will Robert (Freeze)? We will all see. I know Michael, atleast will prevail.
OH and sorry that Robert “Freeze” isnt the icon of the NYC club scene that MIchael Alig was….sorry that SOMEONE ELSE did not make a hollywood movie based on Freeze’s life and making him the star. In fact a book and movie were made out of Michael’s life and sadly one crime that is apparently sadly…defining his life…which is very narrow minded. So everyone in the media has helped Michael become even more famous since he has gone away to prison. In case you weren’t aware you cannot publish anything about yourself when you’re in prison directly, can’t get online, etc.etc. In EVERY interview he’s done, he says he is remorseful, try doing some research and have a great day!

p.s. yea and um Michael Alig was coined as the “King of the NYC Club Kids” which in fact dropped the “NYC” and just became known as “king of the club kids” in general…….not Freeze. Maybe that is some of the reason why Freeze isn’t in the media as much. You can thank mr.james st. james for ALOT of Michael’s notoriety after he went to prison - as far as the entertainment industry. And keep in mind that the two main media works about Michael are both fictional works….”based” on some actual events.

That seems odd to me when everyone else here can cuss and wish death upon our friend Michael but when it comes to a factual comment I left where I empathize with Michael and include true facts from my life strickingly similar to Michael\’s and the fact that I can understand why some things happened the way they did……my comment isnt posted to the public yet.
