Thoughts on the ‘Dog’ from the ‘Bull’… | The Bull Speaks!

The Bull been following the news frenzy over comments made by Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman, (A&E’s ‘Bounty Hunter’), concerning his son’s troubled black girlfriend.

I have now listened to both the long and the short versions. I have to admit, the tapes bothered me on several levels. The first level was that I had to go to the National Enquirer’s web site to hear the tapes! Another problem I have is, indeed, Dog’s use of the ‘N’ word. Frankly, I don’t like the word. The only time my dear old Dad ever used his hand against me was for the use of that word when I was just a wee lad. With one swing of his massively muscled arm he rolled my miserable ass across the lawn – and rightfully so. It is a term that is offensive to me, and to Society on the whole. My children know that should ever that word fall from their lips in my presence that they can expect exactly the same treatment I got all those years ago. Despite my personal feelings we must come to terms with the facts surrounding the word ‘nigger’.

A sad fact is that it is a word that it is a term has been in our language so long now that to suddenly say that no one can use it anymore simply won’t work. Especially when the very people that raise such an uproar when it is used use it themselves, often as a term of endearment! The Bull lives about as far South as one can go, in Mobile, AL. I can not leave the house without hearing the ‘N’ word being used. From the white population? No, (and this troubles me most), it comes from the black population when speaking of other blacks. I’m sorry folks, but such double standards just don’t work! Either the word is off limits to everyone or it is fair game for everyone. Therefore I say to the black population of America: “Make up your minds! We can either all use it, or none of us can use it.” (…and to be clear, I’d rather it be ‘none of us’.)

Now, as for Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman the man. Duane is a man with many rough edges and stranger ideas than even The Bull on appropriate attire. Here is a guy brought up hard by a harder man who went ‘bad’ at a young age. He paid his debt to Society, turned his life around, and made his life into a great success as a bounty hunter. Some folks balk at the idea of bounty hunters, yet without them our judicial system would simply collapse under the weight of bond-jumpers. The police know this and while they may not necessarily always like the hunters they tolerate them. Chapman has also been honored by the State Legislature and Governor of Hawaii for his contributions in the War on Drugs. On the whole, Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman has taken the broken pieces of his Life and made a monument to the idea of Second Chances. That certainly doesn’t make him perfect, but to quote someone from America’s favorite Faith, “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone“. If you think you fit this category please contact The Bull. I’ve always wanted to meet a ‘perfect’ human. Yes, he said ‘nigger’ – several times. How many times have you said that word, Dear Reader? Be honest! Even if you have not said it public, how many times in life have you uttered it in private? How many times have you thought it? Do not for a moment consider this post an apology on the behalf of Dog. He was wrong in what he said! Yet, I ask you, was what he said – in a private conversation – worth the losses he and his entire family will suffer? The Bull thinks not!

Finally, concerning Dog’s son, Tucker. Simply put, the boy is a traitorous pig. A scumbag that sold out his own father, step-mother, and all of his siblings for cash. There are damned few things lower on the totem pole of Human Existence than someone like Tucker Chapman. From listening to the tapes it is obvious that Dog was dealing with a son who’s girlfriend of seven months was determined to cause as much discontent within the Chapman household as possible until and unless Tucker was brought into the business so he, (and she), could share in whatever fame and fortune was made by Dog’s celebrity. After threats made against Beth Chapman, (Dog’s wife), by said girlfriend, Tucker was told – in no uncertain terms – that she was not welcome in or around the rest of the Family and neither was Tucker as long as he kept this girl in his life. The Bull supports Dog in that decision! Should one of my children so upset my household or had a ‘friend’ threatened my wife, that child would have to face the same commandment from dear ol’ Dad. This ‘girlfriend’ knew very well, (according to Dog’s own words in the tape), the language used in the Chapman household and had threatened to wear a wire to catch the ‘N’ word being used. My guess is this was her plan all along: Get in on the cash or bring down Dog and his family. Sick. Tucker, you should be ashamed!

A&E has suspended production of ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ series pending investigations. The Bull hopes that they will immediately restart production of what is apparently a hit show. To do otherwise over what is, in fact, an internal family squabble would be simply wrong. Let A&E know what you think by visiting this page and sending you comments. You will find the ‘Contact Us’ link at the bottom of the page. The Bull ask only one thing: Be fair minded in your thoughts and comments.

For now,
Bull, out.

Tucker should be ashamed, but he is not.I think it would be fair to say he shamed his family before the personal conversation was taped. This is about a black girl wanting something FREE.This is not news.

I am pulling for DOG,and I hope tucker has to pay dearly in the future. He’s a worthless scum to our race!!!!

  2. Mike says:

Vickie is correct, Tucker is waste of a white man. This is another case of the white not able to say what he feels, but if you are black – Say whatever the hell you want. You have been suppressed for too long to hold anything back.

  3. Bull says:

Mike, this has NOTHING to do with White vs.Black save for the double standard on that one term. To attempt to make it otherwise just invites comment by the putrid dregs of Society like the KKK or Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. (They all fit into the same box.)

  4. Bubba says:

Bull, I have to say that you are correct in your estimation of this situation.

There’s really only one way to remove the sting from the word “nigger” and others like it, and that is for all of us to stop bitching about people using it…period. But that’s not about to happen in a society where the majority of the 12 or so percent of the population who claim to be so horribly victimized by the word use it all the time, and at the very same time they argue that not only is it perfectly OK and totally acceptable for them to use it, it’s akin to verbal lynching for whites to do so. A sense of self-righteous entitlement can come in all shapes and forms, and blacks bandying about the word “nigger” like they are getting paid for every utterance of it, all the while pissing, moaning, bitching and whining if a member of any other race does so is nothing more than an attempt to stake another claim, albeit a moronic one, for preferential treatment. Now, before anyone wants to chime in that what I am saying here is too far of a stretch to be credible, maybe they need to think for a minute about just what it is that supposedly makes this one word so especially vile above ALL OTHERS, yet one that makes the careers of so many black rappers and destroys the careers of any whites who would dare to use it. When our kids come home from school crying because they have been picked on, we give them the old “Sticks and stones….” speech and send them on their way.

The only words that deserve dissection here, in this specific case in point, are “fucking rats”. I hope that rotten, no-good piece of shit Tucker Chapman and his skanky road whore enjoy their few pieces of silver, because they’ll be sleeping under an overpass next weekend after they smoke it all up, and the only thing they’ll have to show for it are methamphetamine metabolites in their urine and the clothes on their backs…Oh, yeah, that and the nice, perfectly tailored snitch jackets they are both wearing now.

Until I listened to the conversation, I was shocked at Dog’s conduct. However, once you listen you can clearly conclude that Dog is trying to prevent additional discord with in his family (not to mention his career) and is giving his son an ultimatim. For what ever reason, Tucker elects to record the conversation — possibly hurting his family for ever. It is obvious that some type of retaliation was the plan all along — Dog mentions that the girlfriend was “planning on recording and selling to the Enquirer”. Unknowing to Dog, it was the son who would be making the recording. While the “N” word is not appropriate, neither is recording a personal conversation and selling it to destroy someone’s image and career. I think Dog has done enough explaining, and now it’s Tuckers turn to explain why he lash out in such away against his family. He is conducting himself like a spoiled brat who isn’t getting his own way.

  6. Loner says:

How would you like to have to answer for what you say in the privacy of your own home. This kid has cut his own throat. If you would do this to our own family, who would trust you to work for them or in a business deal? Good luck, punk.

  7. Just Me says:

I have to say everything said here bothers me. This dialogue went from Dog using the N word to the whole black community using the N word to Tucker explaining himself for throwing his family under the bus. Are you serious? There is only one thing that is actually important to the public here. Let me explain…. Does everyone know for sure that Tucker even sold the tape? Was it even a tape? It could have been a voice mail of which any resourceful reporter could get a hold of, illegally of course. But none of this matters. Wrong is wrong!!! First of all, not all African Americans use the N word. There are many African American people who believe using the N word, no matter what your intentions are, is wrong in so many ways. I will dare to say that most African American people believe it is wrong. Just because you may hear a few African American people say the word or hear it on a song doesn’t mean all African American people use that word freely or at all. I wish Caucasian people would stop using that as an excuse to use it themselves. Although it is wrong to be used in any form, trust me, it comes from a different place when used by a Caucasian. Secondly, it is a shame that here in 2007 we are just calling people on their racism and still others defend them. Lastly, Dogs son should not have to answer to anyone but his family. If Tucker was involved with putting the recording in the media he has offended his family, but Dog has offended a whole race of people and hopefully most of the world. It is a shame that we have come so far, but have so much farther to go. Why can’t people just be people? We are all different, but people just the same. Dog is somewhat of a celebrity figure and should adhere to a hirer moral standard in his life. Especially if he is claiming to be a Christian with Christian values and morals. We all make mistakes, but this is scene into his true character. Dog is an example of many people who are closet racists. I hope this goes to show people that you can not believe everything or everyone you see on TV. I hope all of this also sheds light on how in 2007 we still have ignorant, racist people who will smile in an African Americans face, shut the door, and start knitting a noose all in the same hour. I pray that Dog and his family learn a very valuable lesson from this experience.

  8. Bull says:

    Just Me,
I thought I was clear in my condemnation of the ‘N’ word. Apparently not.

As for Caucasian people looking for “an excuse to sue it themselves“, and the use of the word by “a few African American people“, you have GOT to be kidding me! What world are you living in, Just Me? It is not merely in songs or gang members, it is being used – in public – by nearly all Blacks I meet. That is not just here in the South, but in the North, the mid-West, and on the West Coast as well. (Note my use of the term ‘Blacks’ rather than ‘African-Americans’. You can shove your hyphen. Either you are American or you are not. Period.)

Not being a Christian myself I don’t think I have grounds to speak on Dog’s values in that regard.

Let me close by pointing out one major failing in your argument. You make the statement, “I hope all of this also sheds light on how in 2007 we still have ignorant, racist people who will smile in an African Americans face, shut the door, and start knitting a noose all in the same hour.” without allowing for the Blcks that smile in the face of Caucasians, shut the door, and begin planning the robbery, rape, or murder of that Caucasian.

See how easy it was for me to turn that statement around on you?

Let’s face it. The attempts to shame and embarrass white Americans to bring equality to black Americans worked for a while, but that time is gone. Freedom is here, equality is there for anyone wanting to grab it, and this constant fight over a word is a waste of time.

Finally, the fact is that double standards do not work and until the Black community drop the use of it they have no leg to stand on when screaming at any white using it.

  9. Fade says:

I don’t think this is about racism. This is about a punk ass son pulling some sorry shit to get back at his dad. Pretty low, Tucker.

We’ve all said stupid, politically incorrect things at times in private conversations. For your own blood to sell you out to the National Enquirer is just the lowest of the low. Hope Dog sues the Enquirer for making these recording public illegally. You have to judge people by their actions, not by words of anger. Dog has turned his life around, and tries to turn the lives of others around too. All those matters give him a positive image in my mind. Not to mention that he went to Mexico and brought back a serial rapist who would have continued raping young girls and only got released because of his families money. Am I going to judge Dog because he ran his mouth? Am I going to judge him for not letting his son be on his teevee show? Somehow this kid fucked over his own family. Maybe that gf of his IS A bad influence. And not cause she’s black- but because she’s a fucking troublemaker. But hey, He had to know, you can’t say that shit and keep a Teevee show, so not the smartest thing he’s ever done.
