2008 July | The Bull Speaks!

A Japanese company (Toyota) and an American company (Ford Motor) decided to have a canoe race on the Missouri River. Both teams practiced long and hard to reach their peak performance before the race.

On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile. The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action. Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while the American team had 7 people steering and 2 people rowing. Feeling a deeper study was in order; American management hired a consulting company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.

They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while not enough people were rowing.

Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another loss to the Japanese, the rowing team’s management structure was totally reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 2 area steering superintendents and 1 assistant superintendent steering manager. They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 2 people rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the ‘Rowing Team Quality First Program,’ with meetings, dinners and free pens for the rowers. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes and other equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses. The pension program was trimmed to ‘equal the competition’ and some of the resultant savings were channeled into morale boosting programs and teamwork posters.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid-off one rower, halted development of a new canoe, sold all the paddles, and canceled all capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to the Senior Executives as bonuses. The next year, try as he might, the lone designated rower was unable to even finish the race (having no paddles,) so he was laid off for unacceptable performance, all canoe equipment was sold and the next year’s racing team was out-sourced to India.

Sadly, the End.

Here’s something else to think about: Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US, claiming they can’t make money paying American wages. Meanwhile, TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US.

The last quarter’s results: TOYOTA makes $4 Billion in profits while Ford racked up $9 Billion
in losses. The folks at Ford are still scratching their heads and collecting bonuses…

IF THIS WEREN’T SO TRUE IT MIGHT BE FUNNY.

~~~~~
Thanks to Debbie for forwarding this email to me. Sometimes there is real Truth in these silly mass mailings. This is one that is right on the money. It’s really too bad, but Ford has had a good run. If they can not compete in the open market then they should close up shop. That or make REAL improvements in their mode of operation. Obviously their current methods of lining pockets doesn’t work.
Then again, there seems to be a real correlation between Ford and Congress.
A well-known NASA astronaut says that we are definitely not, repeat, NOT alone!
During an interview with a UK radio station former NASA astronaut and moon-walker Dr. Edgar Mitchell, a veteran of the Apollo 14 mission, came flat out and said that aliens do exist and have visited our planet on numerous occasions but the alien contact has been repeatedly covered up by governments for “the last sixty years or so”.
Dr. Ed Mitchell
Dr. Mitchell said that the aliens that have visited look similar to the “small gray” aliens noted by those who have claimed to have seen them â€??? short, slight frame, large eyes and large head. He was also quick to point out that human technology is “not nearly as sophisticated” as the aliens’ and “had they been hostile we would be been gone by now.”
The Bull says that kind of obvious! :roll:
Mitchel went on to note how many Governments outside of the United States, (and The Bull would like to add Russia), have begun to release their UFO files to the public, including Mexico and several South American nations. The host also noted this and added that the UK Government is scheduled to make a complete exclosure of their information over the next four years.
It is sad that the US Government is still wired so bloody tight concerning this topic. Heck, even the Catholic Church has made a public statement that the belief in aliens does not endanger ones soul. Why? Are they privy to info we aren’t (yet)?
OH! So no one will say I’m being one sided here… NASA had the following statement:
“NASA does not track UFOs.
NASA is not involved in any sort of cover up about alien life on this planet or anywhere in the universe.
Dr Mitchell is a great American, but we do not share his opinion on this issue.
Thanks for the opportunity to comment.”
This is, if I may interject my opinion here, the usual government-scripted statement that has been given out for years now when questioned on this topic…
You can listen to the interview with Dr. Mitchell – and the call to NASA made by the host – at this URL.
Well, folks… Where do YOU stand on these issues: (1) Life elsewhere, or not? (2) Intelligent life, or not? (3) Aliens visiting Earth, or not? And finally, (4) Government telling us the TRUTH, or not?
For The Bull, the answers are: (1) Yes. (2) Yes. (3) Most likely. And (4) “Our Government? In the US? Not a chance in hell!”.
Interesting story, eh?
Can houses be ‘haunted’? Do ghost exist? Well, The Bull says yes to both questions, but not in the classic “I’m haunting this place to run you out” kinda way.
Anyhoo, in Bedford, VA there is a well-known ‘haunted house’ known as Avenel House. My sister, Taffney, helps care for the place. The video clip below shows a tad of film made by a local paranormal investigation team.
Of course they found nothing conclusive – none of these teams ever do. I’d recommend that you visit the place if you can arrange it and decide for yourself.
The New York Times did not want you to read the following message. In fact, they told McCain to write a message that “mirrors Senator Obama’s piece”. How’s that for gall? Do you need anymore proof that the American public is being steered towards electing Obama? I don’t think so! Now, go read what the Senator from Arizona had to say.
Bull*
In January 2007, when General David Petraeus took command in Iraq, he called the situation “hard? but not “hopeless.? Today, 18 months later, violence has fallen by up to 80 percent to the lowest levels in four years, and Sunni and Shiite terrorists are reeling from a string of defeats. The situation now is full of hope, but considerable hard work remains to consolidate our fragile gains.
Progress has been due primarily to an increase in the number of troops and a change in their strategy. I was an early advocate of the surge at a time when it had few supporters in Washington. Senator Barack Obama was an equally vocal opponent. “I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraq is going to solve the sectarian violence there,? he said on January 10, 2007. “In fact, I think it will do the reverse.?
Now Senator Obama has been forced to acknowledge that “our troops have performed brilliantly in lowering the level of violence.? But he still denies that any political progress has resulted.
Perhaps he is unaware that the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has recently certified that, as one news article put it, “Iraq has met all but three of 18 original benchmarks set by Congress last year to measure security, political and economic progress.? Even more heartening has been progress that’s not measured by the benchmarks. More than 90,000 Iraqis, many of them Sunnis who once fought against the government, have signed up as Sons of Iraq to fight against the terrorists. Nor do they measure Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki’s new-found willingness to crack down on Shiite extremists in Basra and Sadr City ?? actions that have done much to dispel suspicions of sectarianism.
The success of the surge has not changed Senator Obama’s determination to pull out all of our combat troops. All that has changed is his rationale. In a New York Times op-ed and a speech this week, he offered his “plan for Iraq? in advance of his first “fact finding? trip to that country in more than three years. It consisted of the same old proposal to pull all of our troops out within 16 months. In 2007 he wanted to withdraw because he thought the war was lost. If we had taken his advice, it would have been. Now he wants to withdraw because he thinks Iraqis no longer need our assistance.
To make this point, he mangles the evidence. He makes it sound as if Prime Minister Maliki has endorsed the Obama timetable, when all he has said is that he would like a plan for the eventual withdrawal of U.S. troops at some unspecified point in the future.
Senator Obama is also misleading on the Iraqi military’s readiness. The Iraqi Army will be equipped and trained by the middle of next year, but this does not, as Senator Obama suggests, mean that they will then be ready to secure their country without a good deal of help. The Iraqi Air Force, for one, still lags behind, and no modern army can operate without air cover. The Iraqis are also still learning how to conduct planning, logistics, command and control, communications, and other complicated functions needed to support frontline troops.
No one favors a permanent U.S. presence, as Senator Obama charges. A partial withdrawal has already occurred with the departure of five “surge? brigades, and more withdrawals can take place as the security situation improves. As we draw down in Iraq, we can beef up our presence on other battlefields, such as Afghanistan, without fear of leaving a failed state behind. I have said that I expect to welcome home most of our troops from Iraq by the end of my first term in office, in 2013.
But I have also said that any draw-downs must be based on a realistic assessment of conditions on the ground, not on an artificial timetable crafted for domestic political reasons. This is the crux of my disagreement with Senator Obama.
Senator Obama has said that he would consult our commanders on the ground and Iraqi leaders, but he did no such thing before releasing his “plan for Iraq.? Perhaps that’s because he doesn’t want to hear what they have to say. During the course of eight visits to Iraq, I have heard many times from our troops what Major General Jeffrey Hammond, commander of coalition forces in Baghdad, recently said: that leaving based on a timetable would be “very dangerous.?
The danger is that extremists supported by Al Qaeda and Iran could stage a comeback, as they have in the past when we’ve had too few troops in Iraq. Senator Obama seems to have learned nothing from recent history. I find it ironic that he is emulating the worst mistake of the Bush administration by waving the “Mission Accomplished? banner prematurely.
I am also dismayed that he never talks about winning the war ?? only of ending it. But if we don’t win the war, our enemies will. A triumph for the terrorists would be a disaster for us. That is something I will not allow to happen as president. Instead I will continue implementing a proven counterinsurgency strategy not only in Iraq but also in Afghanistan with the goal of creating stable, secure, self-sustaining democratic allies.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 16, 2008
WASHINGTON – The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced today that on-line applications are now accepted from veterans, survivors and other claimants filing initial applications for disability compensation, pension, education, and vocational rehabilitation and employment benefits without the additional requirement to submit a signed paper copy of the application.
Effective immediately, VA will now process applications received through its on-line application website (VONAPP) without the claimant’s signature. The electronic application will be sufficient authentication of the claimant’s application for benefits. Normal development procedures and rules of evidence will still apply to all VONAPP applications.
VONAPP (www.va.gov/onlineapps.htm) is a Web-based system that benefits both internal and external users. Veterans, survivors and other claimants seeking compensation, pension, education, or vocational rehabilitation benefits can apply electronically without the constraints of location, postage cost, and time delays in mail delivery.
VONAPP reduces the number of incomplete applications received by VA, decreasing the need for additional development by VA claims processors. The on-line application also provides a link to apply for VA health care benefits and much more.
Over 3.7 million veterans and beneficiaries receive compensation and pension benefits from VA and approximately 523,000 students receive education benefits. Approximately 90,000 disabled veterans participate in VA’s Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment program.
For more information about VA benefits, go to VA’s website at www.va.gov or call our toll-free number at 1-800-827-1000.
0415… Seems I slept longer than usual. Perhaps that has something to do with the state of my dreams. Maybe not. Since I was a kid The Bull has been the “go to” guy when it comes to dreams. I’ve got a knack for seeing what is crawling about in a person’s head, what is the root of a particular dream. Never for myself, though. Tonight’s dream was not terrifying. No, my nightmares are based in reality, never in my sub conscience. This dream was merely strange. A jumble of strange imagery – persons, places, animals, & things that seem to have no correlation.
Persons:
  • Fred Thompson
  • Queen Elizabeth II
  • Ronald Reagan (on a television screen)
  • my beloved wife, Lady Beth
  • two lost friends: Cathy & Melody
  • a dear friend: Malece
  • one dead uncle: Jeff
Places:
  • my home
  • Windsor Castle
  • the southern bridge over the Big Eastatoe River
  • Dragon Hills, near Carrollton, GA
Animals:
  • house cats, (not mine)
  • my Great Danes
  • a Bald Eagle
Things:
  • a HUGE staircase
  • an ancient elevator, (in good working order)
Odd, yes? Even now, as most dreams do, the details are becoming a bit fuzzy around the edges. For example, I can not recall what ‘Uncle Ronnie’ Reagan was saying on the television, just that he had my undivided attention. (What a great man. May he rest well.) I had been asked to feed those cats. Just after, and because of, successfully chasing down Jeff. Fred Thompson was where ever I was after that chase, almost as a narrator. The eagle was always in the sky above making the occasional cry. Where ever Lady Beth stood she was being guarded by our Danes. No one could get too close – save for me. Malece sang song after song and each one relaxed me more. I also never seemed to be able to choose between the stairs and the elevator. Mostly I took the stairs.
The rest was even more peculiar. I’ll keep that to myself for now, methinks.
Now, back to the waking world…
The following unbelievable statement was found in a Fox News story today:
CORONA, California ?? The state parole board on Tuesday denied a request for compassionate release to Charles Manson follower Susan Atkins, who stabbed actress Sharon Tate to death nearly 40 years ago and is dying of brain cancer.
The California Board of Parole released its unanimous decision hours after a 90-minute hearing, during which it heard impassioned pleas from both sides.
“Obviously, it was too hot of a potato for them to handle,” said one of Atkins’ attorney, Eric P. Lampel. “Of course we’re disappointed. There’s no basis for denying this.”
No basis for denying this“, the fool says? :shock:
Where the hell have you been for the last 40 years, Mr. Eric P. Lampel? Are you brain-dead, or simply that freakin’ stupid? I understand that you shysters are supposed to be all for your client, but damn!
Susan Atkins is a murderer. A confessed murderer in the most notorious felonies this nation has ever known short of 9-11. So what if she’s had one leg chopped off, can’t talk, and is suffering with terminal brain cancer? WHO CARES? I know, let’s ask Abigail Anne Folger, Wojciech Frykowski, Gary Allen Hinman, Jay Sebring (born: Thomas J. Kummer), Steven Parent, Leno & Rosemary La Bianca, Sharon Tate, and Paul Richard Polanski (the unborn son of director Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate), what they think. Oh wait! They are DEAD! (There are others, but we can be sure that Atkins was involved in murdering these poor souls.) Did you think America has forgotten?
The Bull says that the murderous bitch, Atkins, was sentenced to die in prison and so she will. Granted, that death is coming four decades too late, but that is the state of Justice in the “People’s Republic of Kalifornia”.
Hell NO! No parole – EVER – for Susan Atkins!
It has happened. The most unbelievable thing possible in the world of the Miss Universe pageant…
For the second year in a row an actual BEAUTY was declared the winner!
Believe me, there is no chance I would waste time watching the pageant. Especially when I can get the results right here on the Internet. The Bull will also admit to a certain amount of male chauvinism when speaking about beauty pageants – I think that beauty should be the deciding factor. That was, after all, the original purpose of the events.
This year’s winner lives up to my decidedly male expectations. Miss Universe 2008 is Venezuela’s Dayana Mendoza.
340x Another Star in the Universe
A stunning beauty! Miss Mendoza, I believe will be a credit the Miss Universe title.
Sadly, as pretty as she is, it is my personal contention that Dayana Mendoza can not hold a candle to the 2007 Miss Universe, Riyo Mori of Japan.
miss universe riyo mori Another Star in the Universe523211554 13036f8b03 Another Star in the Universe
My parents, (Mom in particular), always considered my admiration for the beauty of the Japanese, as well as an admiration of their culture, as a character flaw. Their stance rooted in the memories of Pearl Harbor and the loss of friends & family in that war. For whatever reason, their feelings simply could not be pressed into my mental makeup. When it comes to the appreciation of beauty, or the appreciation of a culture’s contributions to Mankind, The Bull has the ability to look beyond the conflicts of nations which pass in time. Before my detractors can ask, yes, that applies to the Middle Eastern cultures as well. I have the highest regard for both their beauty and the advancements in the Human Condition that the cultures of the Middle East have brought.
It is the corruption of Islam for the purpose of murder, and the apathy of the Muslim people to that corruption and murder, that I abhor. The Japanese of the WWII era had similar issues – and they over came those issues. The Bull sincerely prays that the Muslim people can similarly overcome their issues.
I have the honor to remain your male chauvinist host,
THAT, my Dear Readers, is the question!
Troy King, the Attorney General of Alabama, and the presumed GOP favorite for the Alabama Governor’s race in 2010 is rumored to be in a world of deep, dark shyte. Both at home and in the political (if not public) eye. The reason? Boy, is that ever a story! Or perhaps, just rumor…?
For the past couple of weeks there have been rumors floating about Alabama’s nether regions (read as “State House”) concerning our anti-sex, anti-gay, tied-way-too-tight Attorney General planning his resignation due to a divorce action filed by his wife, supposedly confirmed by Montogmery’s WSFA. The cause of said action is supposedly marital infidelity of the worst sort – especially for someone with such a public hatred for all things sexual as Troy King. According to several sources, including (and quoting) the near-100% accurate Perez Hilton:
Notoriously anti-gay Republican Alabama Attorney General Troy King was supposedly caught in his marital bed, by his wife, sexing it up with a young, gay, male assistant!!
Whoa! :shock:
Toys for Troy
(See this post for an explanation)
Let’s remember that this is the same Troy King that demanded that Alabama’s archaic 1998 law against any sort of device that can be used for “self gratification” be enforced by our already over-worked Law Enforcement agencies. It is the Attorney General’s opinion that Government influence should, and does, extend to the bedroom activities of consenting adults – even when alone! So for the last couple of years anyone wanting to legally buy a dildo has had to drive into one of our neighboring States or procure one via mail order. Viva la Internet!
Again, until more evidence arises, and it will, this should not be deemed fact. However, the McCain Campaign has now dropped all mention of Troy King as their “Chair of the McCain 2008 Alabama campaign” which was announced on January 29, 2008. In fact, they have verily sanitized their site! What they failed to recall is that Google caches their pages, so it was only a matter of a simple search to find the original press release. Further, ‘Common Sense, at the Alabama blog, Left In Alabama (see “Comments”), reports:
Sources at the Montgomery Advertiser say that they have been sitting on the story for a couple of weeks. They’re working the story fast and furiously but won’t run until they get official confirmation due to possible exposure to a lawsuit from King. Their sources tell them that Troy King was caught in a compromising situation with a male aide at King’s home by his wife. The Montgomery Advertiser is trying to determine who King would submit his resignation to – is it Gov. Bob Riley? A press release from King’s office stated that he was supposed to be in Mobile yesterday (Wednesday). The Mobile-Register is working the story as well.â€??
The Bull has confirmed that the Mobile-Register is working the story.
Mr. King, you’ve stepped into it now!
It is well known that The Bull is firmly entrenched on the Conservative side of Independent. I’m not ‘pro-gay’ or ‘anti-gay’. I like sex as much as anybody. We were, after all, designed by our Creator to enjoy sex. I just don’t think that it is any of the Government’s business what consenting adults do in their bedroom. If minors were involved, I have a differing opinion. I agree with Mr. King’s opinion on many topics, including the Death Penalty for the rape of children. The Bull absolutely abhors a hypocrite, though!
That said, I’ve got to say that the near-total silence from King, and the GOP in general, on this matter looks like nothing more than a cover-up. Exactly what the ‘Dem-wits’ want! Saying that they (King & flunkies) will not “confirming or denying” anything simply will not make it! If the rumors are pure trash, then say so. Loudly! On the other hand, if Troy King is indeed the hypocritical idiot that he has so appeared to be to any thinking Human Being, then he is not worth the effort being expended to save the shreds of his reputation – throw him in the trash! This will not, and is not, doing the Conservative hopes of 2008 any good at all. Hypocrisy must be one thing we keep out of our elected positions and any other position of power, be it local, state , or national in scope.
All of this kind of makes one wonder what else is hidden in Troy King’s “not-for-prime-time” closet, doesn’t it? Sorry for the pun, I couldn’t resist.
No matter if you are on the Left or the Right of the political center it is clearly time for Troy King to exit from the Alabama Public Arena. Exit, stage left!
We’ll be watching, Troy. We’ll be watching…
Happy Birthday to My Beloved Nation!
The United States of America. An idea born of the Human need of Freedom and the willingness to fight for that Freedom.
For well over two centuries She has grown strong, becoming the greatest force for all that is Good & Right that this planet has yet seen. She has birthed Heroes and Scholars. She has bled herself to defend the weak and to defeat tyranny. She has raised Humankind to undreamed heights in both the quality of Life and in a literal sense as it was Her best that led Man away from Home for the first time to set foot on the Moon.
And in a small town in Upstate South Carolina, in the year 1962, She gave birth to this man. Forty-six years have past now and I have not yet begun to repay my beloved Nation for all the treasures She has given me by the single incident, or accident, of my birth. I know that should I live to see the century mark I will never make the slightest dent in that precious debt.
Yet I will continue to try. For though I have little in Worldly riches, I am wealthy beyond measure in the Freedom that comes of being born American. Indeed I am graced!
America, I love you! Happy Birthday!
