Happy Birthday to My Beloved Nation!
The United States of America. An idea born of the Human need of Freedom and the willingness to fight for that Freedom.
For well over two centuries She has grown strong, becoming the greatest force for all that is Good & Right that this planet has yet seen. She has birthed Heroes and Scholars. She has bled herself to defend the weak and to defeat tyranny. She has raised Humankind to undreamed heights in both the quality of Life and in a literal sense as it was Her best that led Man away from Home for the first time to set foot on the Moon.
And in a small town in Upstate South Carolina, in the year 1962, She gave birth to this man. Forty-six years have past now and I have not yet begun to repay my beloved Nation for all the treasures She has given me by the single incident, or accident, of my birth. I know that should I live to see the century mark I will never make the slightest dent in that precious debt.
Yet I will continue to try. For though I have little in Worldly riches, I am wealthy beyond measure in the Freedom that comes of being born American. Indeed I am graced!
