Economy | The Bull Speaks!

Fox News reports the following this morning and asked what we felt. (I’ll assume for the moment that the folks at Fox meant We the People’ when they said that.)

Tiger Woods said Friday he is taking an indefinite leave from golf to work on saving his marriage,
using the word "infidelity" for the first time. "I need to focus my attention on being a better husband,
 father, and person," he said.

Okay, here is how ‘We’ think…

(Perspective.)

‘We’ think that Tiger Woods gets paid one hell of a lot of money to play a game. It seems to be a fairly popular game and Mr. Woods appears to be the best person at this particular game yet known. This is all well and good, however, a lifetime of playing games has left Mr. Woods with no concept of hard work at anything. Life to him is – or perhaps, has been – just another game. Perhaps he was the recipient of too much money and too much fame, and all of this far too fast. Regardless, all people should know where their anchors are in Life. One is in Family and Mr. Woods either forgot that or was never taught be those who raised him or by his life as a gamer. Now after being caught as, and named, a philanderer, Mr. Woods appears to be making an effort to save the one thing in his life that is REAL. His family. Something he should have been working on all along. Is this a sincere effort, or just a ploy to ’save face’ with his fans and sponsors?  Only time will tell. If it turns out to be true then Mr. Woods should be commended for putting his family above golf and money. Some are condemning Mr. Woods for stepping back from golf. This is a thinking error. Family should be placed above any game. Above all remains the fact that golf is nothing but a game.

Constitution Pg1of4.thumbnail We the People on the Subject of Perspective

The Constitution

Meanwhile, back at the ranch (aka: Washington, D.C.), our Constitution – that wonderful document that delineates the bounds of our government and guarantees our Rights as a Free People is being eaten away by a swarm of vile and loathsome vermin in the guise of elected officials. New and ever larger taxes are being planned for all of us. Taxes that will drain our ability to ever again grow our economy and cripple our ability to support ourselves to the point that we are but sources of income for our slave masters – our very own government. Even our Freedom to health care is being stripped from us. Our Rights to even use water on our own property is being stripped from us and given to a governmental bureaucracy called the EPA. Our President is in foreign lands accepting with one hand an unearned international peace prize while with his other hand he signs the death warrant of the American Liberty in the name of what has been indisputably proven to be the HOAX of Global Warming.

(Perspective.)

All the while the enemies of Freedom & Liberty laugh with unfettered glee in their caves, tents, and palaces. They scheme and plot the deaths of innocents and the rape of women and children in the name of a twisted and filthy form of Islam. They seek to give all the world a simple choice: Become one of us, or die a most gruesome death. They have been held in check for decades because the feared the resolve of the American Spirit when roused. Then began the spiraling fall of American determination brought on by elected officials too busy lining their own pockets to do the work that they were sent to do AND a population caught up in the latest glitter from the Left coast and socializing on the internet. Our enemies watched and waited as American resolve began to tarnish. On 9/11 they thought to break that resolve and were caught in a whirlwind of death as America awoke to the horror of terrorism on our shores. Now though, eight years later, as we continue to root out the mind-twisted freaks of humanity that brought us terror in America, our own elected officials are doing a far better job of destroying the West and most specifically the last bastion of Freedom on Mother Earth.

(Perspective.)

All of this, my Dear Readers, and what graces the front page of the news? Even on Fox News?

Tiger Woods’ screwed up marriage, and the game of golf!

‘We’ believe that someone here is having difficulties with maintaining proper perspective.  What is more important? The game of hitting a small white ball with a skinny stick – or – the Freedom of own Nation, a Nation in crisis.

‘We the People’ believe that the United States of America has come to a simple choice of FREEDOM as written in our Constitution, or SLAVERY under a totalitarian government regime, be it Soviet-style or Islamic. As a people the choice is ours.

Here is a dandy little pocket watch that The Bull finds exceedingly desirable. In the event that there are any folks out there wondering what ol’ Bull might like for Yule, or just for giggles, this would be at the top of the list.

Charles Hubert model 3674 Bulls Choice Gear #1

Charles-Hubert model 3674

It is a Charles Hubert mechanical pocket watch, model #3674. (Click on the picture to visit the retailer I’ve found to have the best deals on pocket watches & engraving.) I absolutely despise wearing a wrist watch, but need a time piece on my person.  A pocket watch is the perfect compromise. This model features a mirror polished chrome case. The watch face has many stylish features such as sweep second hand dial and 12 hour/military time split indicator which indicates day or night.
Heck, even the watch chain is included. The back is highly reflective which really makes the engraving stand out. That would be great for what I’d want engraved in a slant font:

“Where Liberty dwells, there is my Country.”
~Ben Franklin 1783

Around the window in the front would be a beautiful place to have engraved my beloved Lady Beth’s favorite quote:

“Not All Who Wander Are Lost” …from the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien.

For years I carried a cheap little model that my ex gave me once as a make-up gift after throwing a particularly heavy bowl at me for having to work overtime. (Which the overtime pay replaced, of course. (That’s why she’s the ‘ex’. Or rather, one of the reasons.)) It was the most comfort I’ve had carrying a watch – ever! Point is that a pocket watch is one fine bit of gear for any man. Particularly for those of us born a century or two out of season.

With a little luck Lady Beth will read this and take pity on her long-suffering, ever-faithful, if not so humble husband and give me the nod to make the purchase. (I love you, my dear wife!) As for the rest of you lot, take a few moments and look over the Charles Hubert collection. I have spent over six months looking at every pocket watch I could find. These are the finest watches available for the dollar and in this Obama-ridden economy value means a lot. I’m sure you’ll find one to suit you. As for me, this model is the best bang for the buck, (but brother, those sterling silver models will make you drool!).

This is the first of what will be many posts about the excellent gear that I have seen, owned, &/or worked with over the years. If I have found it to be worthy, I’ll tell you. If the thing is a piece of crap, I’ll tell you that too. Just the plain & honest Truth.
My Readers deserve nothing less.

To the Congress & Mr. Obama:
Let’s take a moment to review your record BEFORE you come to “We the People” for yet another round of corn-holing, ok?

  • The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775 – you have had 234 years to get it right; it is broke.
  • Social Security was established in 1935 – you have had 74 years to get it right; it is broke.
  • Fannie Mae was established in 1938 – you have had 71 years to get it right; it is broke.
  • The “War on Poverty” started in 1964 – you have had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to “the poor”; it hasn’t worked and our entire country is broke.
  • Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965 – you’ve had 44 years to get it right; they are broke.
  • Freddie Mac was established in 1970 – you have had 39 years to get it right; it is broke.
  • Trillions of dollars were spent in the massive political payoffs called TARP, the “Stimulus”, the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009… none show any signs of working, although ACORN appears to have found a new bitch: the American taxpayer.
  • And finally, to set a new record: “Cash for Clunkers” was established in 2009 and went broke in 2009! It took cars (that were the best some people could afford) and replaced them with high-priced and less-affordable cars, mostly Japanese. A good percentage of the profits went out of the country. And the American taxpayers take the hit for Congress’ generosity in burning three billion more of our dollars on failed experiments.

So with a perfect 100% failure rate and a record that proves that “services” you shove down our throats are failing faster and faster, you want Americans to believe you can be trusted with a government-run health care system? With over 20% of our entire economy?

With all due respect to your collective offices, but…

“Horseshit!”

No. I did not write the above letter. I am, however, posting it as a public service.

The Bull caught the following on the Fox News website

ST. LOUIS ?? A St. Louis city leader frustrated with the police response to rising crime called Tuesday on residents to arm themselves to protect their lives and property.

Alderman Charles Quincy Troupe said police are ineffective, outnumbered or don’t care about the increase in crime in his north St. Louis ward. St. Louis has had 157 homicides in 2008, 33 more than last year at this time.

“The community has to be ready to defend itself, because it’s clear the economy is going to get worse, and criminals are getting more bold,” Troupe, 72, said Tuesday.

Troupe said that when he and residents approached a district police commander last year, they were told “there was nothing he could do to protect us and the community … that he didn’t have the manpower.”

Police did not immediately return requests for comment. Chief Dan Isom told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch he understands Troupe’s frustration but doesn’t support citizens arming themselves.

Carrying guns, he said, is not a “recipe for a less violent community.”

The Bull sincerely hopes that the St. Louis populace has enough sense to listen to the Alderman and not this village idiot, Dan Isom, calling himself the Chief of Police!

It’s the usual sad story. After decades of the cops riding around with “To Protect and Serve” stenciled on their cruisers and telling the everyone to just dial 911, the Truth is sinking in that the police can NOT protect anyone. Hell, most of the time they can barely protect themselves! And now that crime is spiking a bit the higher-ups are getting scared about losing their high-paying jobs.

Before anyone starts, I’m not bad-mouthing the street cops. I know many, like damned near all of them, am good friends with a couple, and once even was engaged to one.

Those guys & gals in blue earn FAR more than they are paid. Moreover, they do a damned good job at what they were meant to do. That is to investigate crime and remove the perps from our streets. Sure, they also have the duty to stop the crimes they know about ahead of time – and they do. Problem is that no one has a crystal ball to tell them which house will be broken into or where the muggers will be tonight. That whole “To Protect…” horse shyte is just something cooked up by politicians to lull the ’sheeple’ of society into a more complacent mindset.

The fact is that the police can not protect everyone at all times. The idiot was right in saying he doesn’t have the manpower. Do guarantee the public’s protection he would need two cops to bodyguard every single citizen 24 & 7. One per 12 hour shift for every man, woman & child.

Well, the politicians got what they wanted. The good people of St. Louis looking to them for help when times are rough in their neighborhoods. The shame is that the politicians can never come through – they overplayed their hand.

And the criminals know it!

That’s why crime is so high and why it won’t go down until the thugs have reason to stop. And this is where the idiot was wrong…

Armed citizens can – and DO – deter crime! In every single jurisdiction where citizens can and do legally carry guns you find less crime and fewer shootings than in areas with strict anti-gun laws. Every time. Don’t listen to the idiots that want you vulnerable. Don’t believe me either. Do the research yourself.

To the Good Citizens of St. Louis:

  • First off, GET TRAINING!
  • Next, ALL guns come with some sort of child-proof lock now days. Some a good, like the one on my Ruger, are great but it is up to YOU to teach your children and keep firearms out of the hands of the untrained.
  • As for the guns, I recommend a 20 gauge or 12 gauge Mossberg Model 500 Persuader® shotgun with the 18 inch barrel for every home loaded with Winchester Super-X® buckshot. These long guns are easy to use, durable, safe, 100% American made, and fairly priced for the average family. The #1 buckshot (in the 12 gauge) is highly effective and gives 16 holes per trigger pull into the bad guy if you do your part. Lots of folks see my sidearm and ask if I’m expecting trouble. my reply is always the old standby: “No. If I were expecting trouble I’d have brought my rifle.” Rifles in urban areas are problematic, so go with the shotgun. You won’t need the penetration of the rifle round and the power of a shotgun is undeniable thug-stopper.
  • For a carry handgun I always say carry the most you can handle and never skimp on reliability. That said, I’d recommend a strong double action revolver over a semi-auto for the new shooter. I’d go with a Ruger SP101® chambered for either the .357 Magnum or the new .327 Federal Magnum. The revolver is very reasonably priced, is damned near indestructible, easily cared for, and again – it is American made. Both cartridges are solid performers for minor caliber bores and both give the option of firing a lower power round for practice or until the confidence level has gone up. You won’t go wrong with Federal Premium ‘Hydra-Shok®’ ammo in either caliber. Just remember that a personal protection handgun is not a primary battle weapon. It is great for getting you the heck out of a bad spot or for fighting your way to your long gun. What you’ve seen in the movies is Hollywood shyte that will get you killed.
  • …and you’ll never go wrong having a damned good knife somewhere for the ‘just in case’ moments. Choices? What suits you so long as it is GOOD steel and is ALWAYS sharp.

I know, I know… That bit on handguns is a case of ‘do as I say and not as I do‘, but for good reason. I grew up shooting, especially single action revolvers, and I’m used to big bore weapons and their quirks. Most non-shooters and new shooters are intimidated by the mere sight of the hulking .45 (long) Colt case. They will refuse to fire a round regardless of how powerful (or not) the load may actually be.

Get armed, stay armed. Protection is your duty – not the cops. More importantly, it is your RIGHT as an American under our Constitution. Exercise your Rights.
