Responsibility | The Bull Speaks!

From NBC Local 15 News, Mobile AL (Reported by: Andrea Ramey)

MOBILE, Ala.) - Mobile may be able to boast the world’s tiniest baby! In August, a set of triplets was born at University of South Alabama Children’s and Women’s Hospital. The tiniest in the set broke the record for the world’s smallest surviving baby at nine point one ounces (9.1 oz.!).

Doctors are calling Oliviyanna, Oriyanna, and Tayvanna three tiny miracles. Collectively at birth they weighed less than four pounds!

“I just started praying and asking God to help them through the way,” said the triplets mother, sixteen- year-old Jamesha Harbin.

The tiniest of the three, little Oliviyanna, is not just proving miracles exist, she’s breaking a record for what might be the world’s smallest surviving baby!

When Oliviyanna was born, she weighed less than a soda can. Today, she weighs three point two pounds.

Sixteen, unmarried, and the mother of not one but three special needs babies. (The needs of special babies is something that we know about here in The Pasture. Our youngest sons, fraternal twins, were tiny, and premature. The expenses and the stress was horrendous but were handled by family, faith, and hard work on the part of both the care-givers and the bread-winners.  Not State-funded, (read as: “tax-payer funded”), welfare.) Upon hearing me rant about this story my 15 year old son informed me that there are at least a half a dozen girls in his 8th grade class expecting babies before the term is over. “Who knows“, he said, “this record may not stand very long.”

One more record that the City of Mobile, and the State of Alabama does not need.

Seriously now, I pray for the health and well-being of these three innocents – and for the grandparent who will have to raise them and us tax-paying Citizens who will be paying for it all.

At some point this Country HAS to wake up and do something about the run-away spending we are doing on welfare and the other ills that it brings. Friends, charity starts at home. So does responsibility. All of the assorted kinds of responsibility. You can’t tell it by looking around America today, though. Today, though, we allow our elected morons in Washington to saddle us with socialized heath care that will not just spend us into oblivion but will just encourage more of this welfare state behavior. Not just that, but they are hitching us to this wagon that will tax us today with only a promise of some sort of coverage in a few years. Nothing for anyone now. disgusting no matter how you look at it – or them!

What happened to self-reliance? Self-respect? Personal responsibility? Parental responsibility?

Mayor Sam Jones

Mayor Sam “Moon Pie” Jones (D) of Mobile

I can tell you now, all of the above are rare birds indeed here in Mobile, AL! Our Liberal mayor and City Council are spending money like there is no end to it. Not on police to help with the ever increasing crime problems and not on teachers in our bottom-of-the-pile school system. No, good ol’ Sam Jones & Friends are spending it on outdoor movie projectors for inner city dwellers to enjoy here in one of the rainiest cities in America – and a giant Moon Pie. (If you’ve never been to the deep South you may not even know what a damned Moon Pie is. They are popular little chocolate-covered cakes with a marshmallow filling. They go good with RC cola and are thrown from floats to the crowd during the endless Mardi Gras parades.)

No kidding, folks! Aa $25,000+, 600 pound, electronic Moon Pie to be raised some 200 feet over the Mobile River and light up Mobile’s skyline at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve. That is a Liberal’s idea of fiscal responsibility for you.

Guess The Bull shouldn’t really be surprised at all the 16 year old mothers, should I?

Either this Country wakes up and demands the removal of these tax & spend idiots we have in elected offices Nationwide or we face the end of Freedom, Liberty, and the downward spiral of Humanity back into the horrors of the Dark Ages.

In 1783 Benjamin Franklin said “Where Liberty dwells, there is my Country“. Friend, I’m here to tell you that the United States of America is the last home of anything resembling true Liberty on this rock in space we call home. Seeing as how we have no spare planets to remove our selves to, we either repair our Nation – save our Freedom -or the party is over. Look around. Is this the sort of system you want your children and grandchildren growing up in? For me the answer is a resounding “NO!“.

One last question… How’s all of that “Hope & Change” working for you?

The following message found its way into my mailbox via Lady Beth’s aunt, Sandra. It is reportedly written by one Charlie Reese, (a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper). As with all things email, I can not vouch for the authenticity of that statement until I spend some time researching the subject in more detail. Regardless, it is a message worth getting out to Americans – especially at this time, so close to election day.

545 PEOPLE By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ, it’s because they want them in IRAQ.

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems. Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like ‘the economy,’ ‘inflation,’ or ‘politics’ that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power. They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

My parents told me about Mr. Common Sense early in my life and told me I would do well to call on him when making decisions. It seems he was always around in my early years, but less and less as time passed by until today when I read his obituary.

Please join me in a moment of silence in remembrance. For Common Sense served us all so well for so many generations.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were lost long ago in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to ‘come in out of the rain‘, why ‘the early bird gets the worm‘, ‘life isn’t always fair‘, and ‘maybe it was my fault‘.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin, sun lotion, or a sticky plaster to a student, but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense began to lose the will to live as churches became businesses, criminals received better treatment than their victims, and the military became a political pawn.

Common Sense really took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your home and the burglar can sue you for assault if you did.

Common Sense finally expired after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion;, his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.

Pall bearers included: ‘I Know My Rights‘, ‘Someone Else Is To Blame‘, ‘The Government Owes Me‘ and ‘I Am A Victim‘.

Not many attended the funeral because so few realized he was gone. I you still remember him you may wish to tell someone about his passing. If not, join the majority and do Nothing.

(Thanks, Pop!)

While sitting here working on the layout for a future post on holster makers, such as ‘Simply Rugged‘ from Alaska, I began thinking about the act of ‘packing iron’ itself. Not the all-to-often debated points of why someone carries a concealed weapon, but rather what the effects are on said person’s mind.

Since I’m isn’t a bloody shrink I can’t tell you what other folks may be thinking. However, I’ll gladly tell you what is running through my little grey cells.

The Bull is – most definitely – a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. I’m also very much in love with the rest of that most beloved of documents as well. I do have a pistol permit and I legally carry a handgun pretty much all the time. Here in my Pasture I don’t even notice the mass of the gun anymore. Regardless of how & where I’m carrying it on any given day, (and that depends on how I’m dressed for the weather or my destination). That is in the comfort of my very own home though…

When I step beyond my yard, be it in our car or on foot, I immediately feel the intense pressure of responsibility hit me. The first time I felt that weight I found it rather odd. After a lifetime of carrying weapons of one type or another back and forth to the range, or for days on end during the hunt, you’d think I’d be immune. No! This is different! This isn’t like before where only targets were in danger or where a missed shot at a game animal means nothing more than a missed meal. Carrying a concealed weapon means that I have shouldered the responsibility for something that could mean either Life or Death for myself and/or others. *IF* I should ever be in a situation where this firearm is drawn for use there is a very good chance that someone’s life will be lost – or at least be changed forever. Mine if I failed to see and stop a threat in time, or some other person because they presented a threat to my life or someone else’s. I feel that weight with every step I take in public. While I don’t notice the gun at home, when I’m out it seems that every tiny movement reminds me of the unique, (in today’s “modern” society), and heavy burden of responsibility I have taken on as a pistol permit holder.

There is some good, no, ‘great’ news in this though… The Bull, as a CCW holder, is now counted among the safest and most reliable of America’s firearms owners – already the World’s most responsible firearms owners, (and among the last). Despite the angry rhetoric from the Leftist, America’s legal firearms owners are law-abiding to an extreme, patriotic beyond measure, and exceedingly SAFE and DEPENDABLE. Out of curiosity I spoke with our local constabulary and asked if the issuance of pistol permits had caused and noticeable changes in crime such as robbery and assault locally.
I expected no straight answer, but I got one anyway.

The answer is YES. Crime is lower now that the citizenry is being legally armed against the criminals. Seems that thugs are thinking twice about violent crime when the possibility of getting shot down in the act is far greater. The Bull thinks that is as it should be.
